do petrol hilux's and diesel hilux's (of the same or similar year of manifacturere) have the same standard diff gear ratios?

No, the centres and thirds are interchangeable - even front to rear in low pinion, but factory ratios are different with petrol/diesel. Diesels 2.2L 4.8:1, 2.4L 4.5:1, petrols were 4.3:1 from memory.

had a sh_t load of diffs from diferent various size engines & i found u get what the slanty bastards decide to put in on the day :twisted:

what ratio were 84-87 luxes were the petrols 4.8:1 looking to run 4.8:1 ratios in 92 td lux, had advice that the ring & pinion is better quality than the aftermarket ones. :?:
