A arm ball joint

Post by steel »

The tapered sleeve on my rear axle housing is flogged out, so my ball joint clunks around & tightening casteleted nut just pulls the joint right through. Ive thought about cutting the plate & tapered section of a late model housing & welding it to my housing, but maybe I can do away with the balljoint & improve the link setup
Any ideas

You could make a custom linkage using a hemispherical rod end, i'm not sure if its the right term but it can and has been done.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

hemispherical rod end? I thought I might utilise a rear radius arm to chassis bush. dont know I hav not put much thought into it yet. What about a Treg hitch , ala Mog rover , or a Heim joint

let me know what you come up with as I have to modify my aframe ball joint mount soon to correct the diff position.
Might go a adjustable heim joint, which is also what i am thinking of doin to my rear linkages at the chassis end.
