I belive in being able to drive home all the time so i would like to know all your opinions on the things that should be carried as spares on an mq patrol
I already carry a spare locking hub and some u bolts
I was thinking mabee i sould get a spare cv and maybe front and rear tailsafts..
What are your opinions

CV joints and other breakable parts in an mq

Depends how it has split/cracked/shatted/etc. in some cases you can just unlock the hub on that side and others will require you pulling it out then and there if you don't want to cause damage to the housing by driving it home.
As for carrying a spare... I never busted one and that was with 35's, but what I did find was that the hubs need a nip-up every trip as too did my u-bolts... but they kept coming off anyway
Once again it may depend on what type of trip your doing, but as long as you carry u-bolts at least. (this is coming from the man who's MQ came home on the back of a trailer twice, once with long side busted axel - drove it out 1wheel drive with the locker and another time when the drivers side spring hanger separated from the chassis.)
breakages
never done a tailshaft, but have done a few cv's, and driven home. had to remove broken bits once. one lesson i did learn the hard way was u bolts. I always carry the short ones because i always broke one nearly every trip. on one trip i broke both short ones. i got the vehicle all jacked up diff back in place spare u bolts out ready to go in and Fa#$@rk were's the plate for the bolts to go through. anyway after 2 hours of backtracking through 1' deep mud no plate. sent the others (3 vehicles) out to get spares and 40 mins later they had gotten 200m down the track with lots of winching and snatching. anyway they got out and i still hadn't heard from them 2 hours later so i got to thinking how to get out. I got my drag chain out, and with the vehicle let down to the bump stops, i pulled the diff backwards as hard as i could with the drag chain, then with the winch cable pulled the diff forward as hard as it would go. It was freezing outside and the mud the others took so long to get through had frozen just enough for me to drive out without needing my winch. I drove home and to work the next day with my winch and drag chain holding the diff in place. got a new plate bolted up and away again. so there's usually allways a way to drive home especially with a 4wd.
diff
that was before i had SPOA and was my LWB

Well i've never carried a spare tailgate with me... what wise words
I know what your trying to say Ozy, it's just that i believe that most people would know what they basicly need
