Hey guys,
I want to investigate the options i have in upgrading the articulation and ride of the suspenion on my bj42. I currently have a 2" lift with a heavy duty leaf set and cross country shocks.
This is ok, but the ride is starting to get to me and i'm wondering if i have any alternatives.
I have had a look at the cool cruisers of texas and i like their "Hell for Stout" (htp://store.yahoo.com/coolfj40/liftkitfj401.html) gear and the only thing i have found in .au thats similar in regards to the leaf setup is the OME leaf springs.
Can anyone suggest a setup/brand that will give more than 2" lift and still be comfortable?
Is there any recommendations which can maximise on-road comfort and off-road performace?

mate have you considered flatter springs and going spring over??
my 40 is sprung over with lift springs and it rides like a biatch!

I'm not sure if this is an option as I'm in QLD and from what i've seen on this board its not legal here.
I'm pretty sure the leaf's and shocks are relatively new (say 6months old or so) so they are not really flat yet.
That doesnt really leave me with any other options cept for a new higher replacement set.

40 suspension
longer leaves, longer shackles, lower chassis mounts... and/or/either.
SOA is definately the best way to go with a lightened spring pack nice and flat...mine recently ramped 1284 on the 20 degree ramp...but as you said "it's not legal up there".
So look for a longer pack and instead of gaining height with a stiffer arced pack...chop and drop your spring mounts to gain the height and keep the packs as flat and light as possible...flexy!
45 or 60 rears are a great length...

Yes, SPOA is engineerable here in Vic but it needs to be done properly. There is a mob in Kalkallo (4wd Heaven) who have two awesome mechanics that are setting up some wild rigs and use a very reputable engineer (well most of them are anyway) to make them street legal.
If you are really interested they are running a drive day to Mt Dis this Saturday. It would be good to go along and check out the owners 45 on 39 swampers.
