mate go the bundy! i own a SWB 73 series (looks like a bundy) and its been the most reliable and fun car i've driven. :D

depends on what you want the truck for, a lux will be easier to setup for hardcore stuff and has 100 times more after market topions than a bundy,

bundys are pretty limited for off the shelf aftermarket mods

got plenty of pics of bundies... but i agree that if u want hardcore 4x4 and aftermarket parts go the hilux.

if u do decide to go fora bundy... my advice would be (from learnt experiences)

1) minimum lift
2) get a nice wide track... 15 x 10's or spacers on 12.5+ width tyre
3) lockers...
4) drive it! :armsup:

eddy what are you talking up now just buy an old truck if you want and just some muddies on it and have some fun dont spend all your money like matt did. You should just keep driving your dad's truck i'm sure everyone would agree a 7inch lifted patrol is good fun to drive

bundies range in price alot... the dealers rip the price up i find... there was a "buying shorties" artical in the 4x4 monthly best of 2003 issue if u can get ur hands on it. Some of the actual bundies in this issue i looked at while i was buying and they were S**T for the money. Over 10 for a belted round piece of shit.

I payed 6800 for mine with a 22r petrol with 298000kms on it and while it does have a few kms on it, i cannot kill this engine if i wanted to it just keeps goin. And i would rather have a well looked after car.

Mine is the LX basically has sunroof and power windows and that sort of thing and the flares i think. I have now spent over 10 on mine but the car is in great condition and an engine swap is the only thing i would think about doing.

p.s. My bundy may be up for sale shortly as i am moving to WA.

i'm with you angus, how often do you get a 7" GQ, 35" mtrs, locked front rear, winch, turbo and all the other wicked goodies that go with it, an all fro free, off your parents. Don't go buying something your gonna regret, stick to the partol eddie, i wouldn't be looking for a 40 series if my dad had a fully worked truck that he was gonna give me, oh maybe i'd still buy a crap, cheap 40 then roll it a few times, then ram break into porters and drive it off the cliff. gotta love them 40's

Hey all
I brought my Bundy (The Fundera!) a few months ago! I paid $4000 grand for it with about 6 months freight left on it! Its a 2L-T (turbo deisel) with 225000ks and so far has been heaps of fun!
It is in good nick, only had little repair around front screen the rest is very very clean.
Ive just put on a set of 33x13.5 Mudzillas which made for some funny looks in traffic.
It may not be a 'hardcore' contender, but for the dollars im lovin it!

my bundy had 4" suspension lift on 80 series coils, 2" body lift, PTO winch, custom barwork, rear disk brake conversion, 35x12.5" BFG's on 15x8" rims with 1.5" spacers in the rear, front and rear airlockers.

It's a mildly worked, injected 304 out of a VN Calais, backed up by a heavily modified and beefed up Turbo 700....

Gee thats tidy :cool: Is that conversion done by using the Marks Adaptors kit? Ive been thinking along these lines. I love the sound of a crisp injected 5 litre :lol: Maybe in about 12 months (carnt rush these things!) Few other things to do before then.

Yep.... first I had the Marks kit to go from the 304 to the G52 box (not the strongest box around so I found out), then sold this kit to buy the new one to go from the Turbo 700 to the Cruiser Split Transfer Case....

It's a bit of a squeese, but well worth the effort.

I'd be happy to give you advice if you go down these lines....

Thanks for that EFI! I'll hold you to that :D I hope to try and start to gather parts for the coversion in about 12 months as the budget allows.

Yeah I didnt really like the sound of running standard gearbox (even though that on the Marks website they say that the turbo diesels G/Box is stronger then the G52) I think that the auto could be good fun!
