255/85/R16's, a GQ, and Flares?

Post by baggers »

G'day,

Just wondering if anyone here would know about fitting 255/85/R16 BFG Muddies to a GQ/Mav and if you'd need flares? I'm getting 4 inch's of lift suspension lift in a fortnight or so, and I still havent decided on what tyres i'd need. As its a stock LWB Mav, it would be tempting to not have to fit flares and wider mudflaps on it and still get 33's on. Sorry if your re-reading this from the General Tech section from a while ago. I found out there that the tyres would fit on a 6 inch rim (but i've decided against it), but no one mentioned about needing flares for a GQ.

Any pics or help would be appreciated. I tried scouring the entire forum before asking, but nothing was there.

Thanks,

Baggers.

I had them on 7" x 16 rims and needed a small flare as they just hung out a bit. On Nissan 6/16s they were just ok.

Try them on with your rims and see. Thin rubber flares with wire inner edge available form ARB etc.

I had a Mav lwb with 4 inch lift with the same tyre set up as you mentioned with no flares on 7 inch roh track rims with no worries ,only had sidewall slightly exposed but tread pattern under the guards

Use the Toyota 6x16 wheels off an old J4/J7 with 3" offset. They fit perfectly under the body.
