Just got some leafs from the wreckers and one end is much bigger than the other wondering wich end would be best to put the shackle on
I am thinking small end but not sure

and a 84 extra cab
If Rocks Had P^ssies Our Lives Would Be Perfect :D...
The small end is the one to usually fit the shackle as with the shacle you end up twisting the spring through 2 bushes so it can be small. The fixed bush is better to be larger.
With Leaf springs one eye has a military rap. It is an extra long leaf which coils around the eye further than the other end eye.
usually this eye is always placed on the fixed pin as a safety feature. In the event you break a main leaf the diff would swing forward or rearward on the shackle but the wrap will hold the diff in place enough to get you home.

Most leaf springs dont have a Mil Wrap. Hilux is the main vehicle to run a mil wrap.

Legaly Maybe? But i havent for a long time. Im running jeep springs in the front and they dont have them. One prob it can cause is the centre pin is more likely to snap if the axle takes a hard hit. I have just done my first centre pin in over 3 years of not running the military wrap.
Google "shackle reversal" for the pros/cons of each setup...
In search of an MQ (offset) H233b rear, housing only preferred, plus a complete GQ or GU front (4.6 ratio ideal) to be shipped to the US. Cheap! Email/PM if you can help.
