Buy 2x Lightforce 240's or XGT's and put 2 on the bar. Thats all you will need, unless you want to look like a wanker with 20 lights on your truck.
Why not go for clearance lights and exhaust stacks while ya at it?
Settle down bogged, what have you got against making your truck look purdy? Personally I like the look of a few lights on the roof. They do serve a purpose as well- they work way better than the bar mounted lights when you drive around paddocks and hills at night (offroad) thats why tractors have them at the top of the cab, and I assume, competition 4x4 rigs as well.
However, for on road purposes you will nly ever need two decent lights at the front- seeing as you can't use the high ones legally anyhow.
But if it is not illegal to have any number of lights on your truck, telling him he is going to look like a wanker is like telling the same to a CR-V or Rav4 owner just because you don't like their taste.
Will, I say 2 Lightforces on the bar, and 4 cheapies on the roof- just make sure you do some bush bashing at night.
Josh.

It probably varies for each state though?
