g'day all,

I've got a G60 patrol with a 308 in it. Just getting a recod quadrajet as the holley that i bought the car with doesn't go up hills... Its got an ancient 300A 1& 20 impco gas system with the old donut mixer on it. Just wondering if anyone had modified or made a air box for the air filter to run a snokel for it? Any photos or original air cleaners that may fit would be really handy. Looking for the easiest option...

Also wondering about electronic ignition, any comments would be great.

I dont know part numbers but in my V8 4Runner I had a gas mixes on top of quaddy with an air box that incased air cleaner (maybe from falcon??) that had a trumpet that hooked up directly to snorkel. Worked fine for me but only got photos of outdide of the car now.
80 series, Locked both ends, Q78ed & a massive 57 k/w to boot!!!!

For a start get rid of the 1&20 and go 4 a 50-70 much more air flow, then buy the impco adaptor to flip the mixer ontop of the carb, then you can pick up a V8 crysler air cleaner setup(air box) which is what the 300A mixer is copied on. Had that setup omn a Fj40 with a 350 chev, worked fine!

ahh Gueey, mayybe you missed my last point. I'm looking for a simply option prefferably at little or no cost...

i wish i could give a simple solution but i went through the same delemers with my cruiser. Runing a V8 on gas and wanting it to breath through a snorkel, i tried everything on the cheap and notiong worked, the little mixer did not want to be force feed air when i was belting down the highway.It would run up on a Dyno O.k but the moment air was forced in it all went down hill. The 1&20 mixer is good for a 4-6 cylinder but a V8 needs at least a 50-70 or 425.Also o forgot to mention before once you fit a Air box arangment run a Balance tube between the Air box and the impco converter were the little mesh cover is, you can screw in a BSP brass fitting in and run a rubber hose, that equalizes the pressure when the air in rammed in. This is a Bugger of a problem to get around but i solved it with these methods.
