sacrificial anodes

Post by rockcrawler31 »

Hi guys.

i really really want to drive my truck on the beach (its a 91 troopy), i have heard mixed reports about the efficiency of the erps to slow down the spread of existing rust and stopping new rust. some-one suggested using zinc anodes bolted on the chassis. some questions

1. does any one know how effective they are. and is it better to use several smaller ones spread over the chassis or will just one do?

2. i realise it is better to combine several techniques, can someone give me some tips or links regarding the application and type of rustproofing fluid to use.

3. just how good is the erps

4. what are some good ways to effectively and thoroughly clean the salt from your vehicle when you get home.

5. There is some rust in the usual spots (windscreen surround, and turret channels) can anyone tell me how to control it's spread for a while till i have the cash to get it cut out.

cheers

For around the windscreen pull out the little plugs around the windscreen frame on the inside of your car and spray some fish oil or some lenolean(spelling??) oil all around inside the frame. This helps prevent rust or slows down whats there already..
