Has any brought a 03/04 model prado? had any problems?
has anyone taken one around Australia, or any where for that matter?
did anything brake?
I'm asking because Friends of mine just brought one with out thinking to much about it, to tour Aust, and I don't know anything about Prado's, or what there weak points are etc.
Any or all info anyone has one these would be great!!!

Dont know about touring but a guy at work has one and takes it off road. Seems to feel less stable and move around more on tracks than a 100 series.
He hasn't broken anything as yet.
He has the 4.0l petrol v6, says he averages 16-18l / 100kms on road, but prados have 180l of fuel on board and a company fuel card didn't say how much it used off road.

I have modified my KZJ120 Prado (3.0 TD Manual GX)
I did the cape last july on my own with no drama's and done a fw trips to wombat, high country, otways etc. Been very happy with its perfomance so far.
I run a 55mm lift with 285/75/16 Interco Trxus (had MTR's for the cape trip), Safari Snorkel, rear storage and water tank, Shower Unit, dual battery's, ARB bullbar and had some Lightforce 240's until some prick stole one :(

I have an '04 GXL 3.0 TD with ARB bar, Warn 9000lb winch, driving lights, dual batteries, UHF, King springs and BFG AT's. Performs very well on road, and quite well off road, as long as you're aware of it's (and your own) limitations. Not in the hardcore 4WD category, but a good comfortable all rounder. No problems so far. Going to NT in three weeks to try it out on its first decent trip.

You guys both have springs and tyres, any issues with rubbing, could you fit the large tyres without a lift ?
I just took a new job and get a good deal on a prado for a company car so think i will go drive one and a 100 series v8 and see what they are like.
Toyota for some reason we get a much larger discount than nissan, is that normal for a fleet purchase ? better deal from toyota than nissan ?

Would that be a 275/70 R17 ? BFG do an all terain in that size and a 285/75R17 in a mud terain.
(265/65 R17 being standard on GXL, VX and Grande.)
I took one for a drive today, i think i want an auto even though i have always driven manuals. the 4.0l v6 is nice, good power, revs cleanly upto redline, almost makes up for the fairly average 4 speed auto, it could really use a 5 speed auto.
But over all i liked it, more so than the 100 series given it will also be a daily driver for me and a bit smaller, less fuel, faster etc.
