Jimnys and big tyres/squik
Jimnys and big tyres/squik
Hey i was wondering if 33" tyres would fit on a jimny with a 4 inch suspension and 3 inch body lift with choped guards?? squid i want a bigger jimny than yours!! Squid i was wondering if you got your 32" tyres engineered on those 7 "rims as according to the tyre specs you need a 8 inch rim for youy 11.5 wide tyres.I rang up RTA tech tips and they said the widest rim i could get engineered is 7 inch. I want to get 33/10.5/15 b.f.g. muds on 7 inch rims. Do ur 32"tyres scrub at any suspension travel? Also hows the rockhopper series 3 in the sand??is it to low? anyone with any info would be great!!

He He.... Just call me Squidley, Spongebob
33's are gonna give you some dramas...we had to cut a shitload out of the guards (including inner) and bend back the metal inner flare just to get the 32's on. You are gonna be hard pressed for room to articulate if you go any bigger.....unless you do serious work with the airsaw and angle grinder
We haven't finished yet, still to sort legal mudflaps (removable) and finish the flares...tyres are ok on the 7's - just had to make a few changes to keep the the paper-blogs happy. Exhaust has to be lifted and a couple of driveline changes...and the BFG's will be replaced with Simex's.
We have hit that very fine line between just right and too-tall-and-tippy, we juuuuuuuust kept it's handling capabilites within the comfort zone...do your sums before you start to play
Rockhopper is a little low in the sand...I was absolutely trashed by a stocker , but without it, forget the bigger rubber.....the tyres don't scrub but you will need to move your brakelines further in (extend all lines by 4 1/2 inches) to stop them fouling.

DRS smells like a cat-food milkshake... and wet socks... and gorgonzola cheese... all whizzed up in a blender
