U.S. Rocky in need of parts...help???

U.S. Rocky in need of parts...help???
Hey everybody -
I just found this group after searching long and hard for replacement parts for my '91 Rocky SX which I have had for about 3 and 1/2 years. I've tried everywhere, and no one can seem to locate parts for me, but here is what I need. Any help would be greatly appreicated. I am in Virginia (U.S.A), and I just need to find a good source to find these parts that won;t send me to the poorhouse. Here's the list:
Auto-locking hub kit (so my 4x4 can work again)
Front brake calipers & hoses
Brake Pads
Possibly an a/c compressor
Also, my exhaust is rusted out (stock) and I am considering ordering the MRT system...BUT there is a custom exhaust place here that can replace my entire exhaust with a bigger pipe, etc...would I be better off just going with the local route with the exhuast, or is it truly worth the cost/wait/effort of going with the MRT system with the headers/intake/exhaust? ANy help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm running out of answers. Thanks,
Steve

hey man, us owner as well here in az. welcome! ac compressor..... i have one sitting around, sadly its not for sale.. sorry... took it out of my rig for now but later on i'll prolly add it back in when i'm ready to do on board air. if you want to wheel often in your feroza, you might want to consider looking into manual locking hubs since autos suck... if you get stuck in 2wd, shift it into 4wd, your still stuck because the front tires have to make 1 or 2 full rotations in order to become locked.... and thats not possible when your already stuck. just an idea there. brake pads.. it has been found that brake pads off of a honda accord fits i believe.. or is it prelude? i cant quite remember... nor i can i remember the years... take a brake pad off and take it in and show a brake expert, they'll be able to match it up for you right quick. as for calipers and hoses... not sure there man.. maybe someone else on here can help you out. ok... extractors and exhaust.. this is the big one! mrt had a good rep but lately its been falling through the floor with poor welds and cracking early. i personally didnt go for mrts. theres also lukey which people have not had problems with, but its the 4-1 design and gives you higher end top power. then theres hurricane.. which is the 4-2-1 design and gives you more lower/mid range torque. i personally imported hurricanes myself and it ran me around $500... spendy yes.. but i spose it'll be worth it. sadly though, it is made for rhd ferozas so they wont fit lhd because they hit up on the steering shaft. but thats ok because a buddy of mine in germany had the same problem and he had pipes 3 and 4 rewelded at a different angle and they fit... reported on the sound and performance and said it was great! so i'm holding onto mine... you could compare prices and see what suits you best. the local route might be a tad cheaper. ring around and see what you find. as for mufflers. i'm going to put on a single chamber cherry bomb. buddy in germany did that and LOVES the sound. loud though. hope this helps since its quite a bit of a read. enjoy and let us know what you find/do. regards!

I found some parts!! How about prices though?
Hey SimplyPV, thanks for your input. I did, after 3 more hours of searching, fine ONE outfit that does have some of what I need. They have a warehouse in Wisconsin, and here is what they have:
-Calipers: $130 each
-Caliper Hoses: $37 each
-Rotors - $90 each
-Brake Pads: $57/pair (front)
-Brake Shoes $35/pair (rear)
So that would take care of my brakes, at the tune of about $500/parts.
Still may need an a/c compressor and exhaust. It sounds from many of you that I should stay away from the MRT option....I'm going to see what this "custom exhaust" shop here locally can do for me. Would it at least help to get the Ram Pod Intake? Once I've got this stuff fixed, my next plan is to get 2 - 4" of lift, somehow, some way.
Thanks again for your help, and if anyone else has any ideas for me, Id appreciate your input.

a pod will help your intake... BUT people have found that the pod doesnt filter out as much dust as the stock intake... if you wheel alot or plan to wheel i would suggest leaving the stock intake on there and looking into getting a snorkel made... that'll give you your forced induction. as for lift... tighten your torsion bars. that'll give you around 2 inches there.. then you can slap on a 2 inch body lift.... and slap on some 31's.. should give you around 6 inches total lift.. maybe bit more. after that. you'll have to look into a SAS... which i plan on doing in 2-3 years.. but thats a whole other story! not to mention another 5 grand....

G'day Steve, welcome.
If you get desperate for hubs there are a few Aussie wreckers that have websites- you could contact them via Email and probably pick up some manual hubs to suit. AFAIK we only got manual hubs on Feroza's (US Rocky's) over here. Let me know if you want links to their sites.
I would go the custom exhaust route too. I was told custom headers would have cost me around $400 AUS; just get the rear piping done in 2" and you'll only be able to fit a single muffler in (so make sure it's a good one if you don't like loud systems!)

Thanks again guys...murcod, I would like those links if you have them, as I cannot seem to locate a set of hubs. I don't go off-road with my Rocky, so I guess that makes the filtration issue not such a big deal for me. I guess the only thing that sucks is that if I do want to get an intake for it, I have to order it from overseas. I dunno...maybe the cuatom exhaust shop can make something for me that would work...sounds possible? I don;t need a snorkel though, just don;t have the need as I use my Rocky for on-road purposes.
As far a lifting my Rocky, I'll try what you said SImplyPV, and tighnen the torsion bars....I've already got 30" tires that I bought 6 months ago, but I guess I can find an excuse to buy some 31"s! Maybe I'll go out and slash them one night and tell my wife I don;t have a choice;) Quesiton about the body lift...can I probably find an off-the-shelf kit that will work, or do they make specific kits for these trucks? thanks again for all your help!

Hey PV...if you get a chance to find out which 4runner kit will work for the list, then I'd appreciate it. Places around here look at me like I'm nuts when I ask them. And by the way just a quick update on parts, I found one place after weeks of searching that got me 2 front calipers, 2 hoses, 2 rotors, front pads, rear shoes, and a timing belt all for $388/shipped to my door! Not bad being as the only other option I had was $650 from some other place! My rocky is on it's way to being a head-turner again! I'm having the exhaust done next week, then all I have to do is fine some hubs so that my 4x4 will work and I'm ready to rock! I build websites for a living, so I also founf a body shop that wants to trade me a paint job for a website, so I might just have to let them make this '91 shine again. ONce it's all done, I'll post pics. Thanks again for the help -

hey steve... here is the source i used for ordering my body lift.
http://www.4wheelonline.com/86894r2w4wd.html
make sure you get the 2 inch lift! 3 is too much and you'll go through too much trouble having to extend everything. you can get away with the 2 inch lift without extending prettymuch anything but you may have to lower a few mounting points for a few things inside the engine bay. if you dont have an electric fan, you WILL have to also lower your radiator and extend your transfer case lever. i cant seem to find any postings regarding the body lift right now since the server seemed to have taken a dump on me. but i will look later.

ssblast20, there is a Rocky in a metro Atlanta, GA wrecking yard. I do not know how picked over it is, I noticed it a month or so ago. It is still there, I called before I posted this. Not many Rocky's in the Atlanta area so I figure it can't be too stripped.
Email me if you want the phone number. bruce@varminthunters.com
Do you have a source for short wheel base (SWB) two door Mitsubishi Montero/Dodge Raider parts? Those are scarce here in the Atlanta area.
I have a sister in Mannassass and a friend in Warsaw, are you near either of those places?
