i don't agree with rego for bikes, but a licence would be good, the number of the ignorant bastards that pedal through red lights in front of a turning 45 with anti padestrian armour (bush built front bar) is crazy

Yeah great, another licence, just what we need.

Firstly, licences cannot replace what we really need, which is a reversal of the trend in today's society to ask the government to macro and micro manage us. Instead of being greedy buggers trying to get some money for nothing, or wanting to be wrapped up in cotton wool, people should be more prepared to take responsibility for themselves. We don't want to be another country of yanks who can't do anything or do any thinking for themselves. Our government should have the courage to support this reversal of trend instead of just covering it's own butt.

Secondly, I have just spent 2 years living in Germany where the drivers routinely drive at maniac speeds in ice, snow, rain, whatever. They don't have as many accidents as we do because speed doesn't kill, undertrained drivers do!! In order to get a vehicle licence in
Germany you need spend a lot of time and money in training.

So instead of a new licence just for fourbies i would support the following,

1. A mandatory system of intensive training for a licence, that should be compulsory to do again if you lose your licence through points or drink driving. (this will make folks think twice about driving carelessly)

2. A requirement for intermittent retesting

3. And a vehicular class system for normal cars. eg small medium and fourbies/small trucks

The pedestrian society nazis need to wake up and realise that we live in a world of vehicles, and that will never change. So take a good look at yourself and realise that if you walk in front of a bullbar'd fourby you only have yourself to blame. not the bullbar

You already have to have a licence to drive a 4WD, it just happens to be the same licence you need to drive any other car.

Personally I think the government should fuck off and legislate society a LOT less than it already does, so I am certainly not in favour of more restrictions.

While they're at it, they can stop taxing me so much to give big handouts to people just for having a baby.

It's not up to me to prove I can drive a 4WD responsibly, it's up to them to prove I can't, and they should do it without interfering with my right as a free man to do whatever I want as long as it doesn't unduly hurt anyone else.

My 2 cents worth, and don't even get me started on guns.

If they do go ahead and test everyone that drives a 4bee they need to test basic off road ability and what to take so those of us with all the knowledge and gear dont spend hours recovering someone that has no clues!!!!
I know we've all got horor stories about the bloke that was sold the 4WD and the salesman said that it'll go anywhere, so off goes said bloke with wife and kids, a few sandwiches and a melway and low and behold they not only get lost, they get stuck as well. The sooner we keep these dickheads outa the bush, the better.

What do these people hurt .. seriously ?? Plus I reckon that if these people are really that dumb .. what is the likleyhood tha they will relaise they need a "special" licence to go 4x4ing ??
I reckon I could count on one hand the nuber of people on this board that had driver training before heading into the bush for the first time ..

Well Ive just had a browse and wadda u know, 2 trips went out on weekend and both had to rescue some way less prepared moorons, not only waisting their time but potentially damaging their own recovery gear. And why, prolly coz these prepared people care. Someone WILL get hurt from stupidity and then we all suffer.

People need to be trained about the hazzards of going bush, even alond a main road, (to Mt Skene) and a lisence that teaches the very basic dangers will help.

and here is the OL Gembrook day drive at www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modules/phpB ... hp?t=21417

And yes these less prepared moorons give me the shaits!!!!!!!!!

instead of a cyclist licence, at least "bike ed" at school or something, to make the bastards ride right, i mean i know that my super agile 45 series tojo with drum brakes all round is the bee's knee's when it comes to stoping in the wet, but i wish i didn't know this from the countless times cyclists decide they're too good for the law and ride straight through a red light.

they act like a dick, and if i didn't stop in time, they'd sue me, we'd have knobscrubber and the pedestrian council all over us etc...

at least police cyclists and pedestians as much as they police for speed etc... i mean scrubby gives good figures stating too many pedestrians die due to cars, considering their slow pace, manouvarbililty, and the fact they have their own mini roads to use, free of cars.
