100mm cut from verticle ( 140 at the very front) , slotted and lifted the inner guards, stiched back together and ground smooth... 200mm (? or so) cut from rears.

Cutting guards seems to be fine the only legal issue is keeping the tyres covered which will involve attaching some sort of flare to it.

I cut my guards back to the top of the indented half circle. This also meant some of the inner guard had to be cut off. I then got a strip of aluminium about 900 x 120 (I think, can't remmber exactly) and slid this in between the top of the inner guard and the new outer lip. On top of the aluminium I put a grey poly plastic sheet which protrudes further out to cover the tyres. Got a BFH and whacked the inner guard until things lined up better. Then I made half a dozen per side aluminium angle brackets and rivetted them to the car and the aluminium.

I'll try and see if I have any pics
