Greetings to all ! I'm chasing a set of springs for my 87 RR , but having no joy with dealers over here and i was hoping for your help ? I want 5inch over std 16mm wire varible rated . Once again Rovacraft want your left nut for a set {$900} all powdered coated orange , as he does his "extreme tailshafts" which are series 2 disco front props and sells them for $1450 each , and you dont sales girl throw in either .
What's this about there extreme shafts being disco 2 jobs? I saw them in the scorpion racing catalogue and thought they would be good. I'm sure it would be MUCH cheaper to buy the disco 2 ones if that's what they are.
And $900 for a set of springs is FARCKEN LUDICRUOUS!!!!!
Yeah , Michael i rang Kings and they told me i have to go thru their dealer over here , so i rang up and got told nnnnnoooo wwwwaaaayy will they do that its illegal !
Yeah the double yolked tail shafts are series 2 disco , you will need both flanges to bolt up but well worth it , makes a huge difference ! Scorpion just powder coat them orange and because Dave Rollands of Rovacraft owns a wreckers in the U.K. you would never guess where your Disco 2 shafts come from at Rovacraft . I believe that Triumph Rover Spares gets them from time to time , but don't go thru Rovacraft ! $900 a set of springs and $1450 for a tail shaft you will be paying for his yacht off Ibiza ha ha ha ha
Brad,
yes r/craft know how to charge.
Best price I have found on double cardan disco shaft is $375.00.
still looking at options.
going to see if a cruiser or hilux one will fit up in there. just have to make an adapter to go on t/case end I think there is enough clearance. diff end will bolt straight up to hilux centre.Hilux shaft $350/cruuiser $250.

Brad, let me know how you go. If your still coming to Wandin I'll see you there.
By the way, 5" over standard is pretty tall! Are you running a body lift as well?
Yeah will defenatly be at Wandin , you can contact me on 0439922815 to catch up , I have a 50 mm body lift . One of my mates has done the exact spring job {brought the springs in UK} and with the weight of the winch ,bar , wheel carriers ect the springs dropped a bit to 3 inch over standard but allows great droop he runs rosemounts and has some of the best travel i have seen in person , with the retainers in his RR is a weapon ! Another RR87 model is for sale over here at the moment with 35s front n rear Jac Mac winch 75 mm body lift ect ect ect and he wants $16k as he's the proud new owner of the 110 County at Tooracks .
www.Rovertym.com in the USA has 5" over stock progressive rate springs. they are very high quality, i have a set of 3"ers on the range rover and they are great.

Michael,
The lux front DC shaft is the right length for a lt230 equipped RR. If you have access to a mill and lathe you can rework the hilux yoke and fit it straight up without an adaptor. Just redrill the rover patter into the yoke after slight relieving behind the caps and then machine a 'ring' to centre the smaller hilux centre feature in the larger centre feature in the rover flange.
Dunno about the hilux front DC & shaft thing- I remember on my hilux the DC was strong, but the spline was crap- I Wore 2 out in approx 260K (generally freewheeled, but worked hard when off road), they just flogged out, then used to vibrate badly at speed. I'd be worried it just wouldn't last in a constant 4 application.
Disco 2's run a double cardan joint drive shaft.
Can handle greater angles and non paralel pinion and t/case shaft.
other than that not much.
regards
Michael.
