G'day,
I'm fitting some 2 inch lift coil springs to my GQ Patrol. I've gone with standard-duty King Springs. At the moment I'm deciding what shocks to get to go with these springs.
I plan on disconnecting the sway-bars for off-road use and would like to run 34 x 10.50 JT2s (should they fit, might need body lift). I imagine that the suspension will have more droop than stock-standard without the sway-bars and with the added unsprung mass.
Will a set of Koni/OME 2 inch lift shock-absorbers allow for the extra droop, or are they set up for running with 31 x 10.50 tyres and connected sway-bars thus only allowing for a limited amount of droop?
Are the springs retained at the top and bottom and if so, can they handle a certain amount of stretching over their free length?
I guess I want to make sure that the springs are free to do there stuff without being limited by the shocks.
Cheers,
David

Shock Theory
the coils arent retained, you'll find the 3 link front wont flex very well. so the correct shocks would do up front.
your theory could work in the rear. but how much flex is too much?
you could tie the springs in yourself using lockwire.
the shock lenghth should be perportional to the spring. so when maximum down stroke of the shock occurs the spring is still held in place.
