What Size Tyres?

Post by EricB »

Hi Guys

Just bought my 1st 4WD today.

Its a GQ SWB
I want to do a 2" spring lift.

Will that fit 33"s without a body lift, or should I stick with 15x7 and 32"s?

Cheers

lift

Lift it bigger then 2 inch first up, save yourself some money because if your like some people with 4wds, you put the smaller lift in when you first start bush bashing then decide that you need to go bigger lift as your skills/stupidity increase and you decide to tackle harder tracks

lift

Go 4" straight up
and always have the option of body lift later

difference in 4inch and 2inch is about a 500-1000 depending if you want it legal...

A 3" suspension lift, no body lift and trim the guards and you will fit 35s without a problem.

I was thinking 2" to keep the insurance companies happy and I would like to keep it nice on the road too :)

I was thinking Pedders track rider, these any good?
or
OME

I wanted to keep the susp under $1500

Then i will pop some MTRs on.

With 33"s would I have to change the speedo as well?

The orig wheels do look a bit worn so I was thinking of 15x8s

The other reason I was thinking is 32"s was the legality of 15mm larger than the standard tyre. Or wont anyone care?

The 15mm thing is QLD, dunno about in Vic but 32" was a factory option (7.50R16) so usually most people get away with 33" no problem.

In Vic you'd be able to get it engineered with 35"s no problem but your insurance company might not like that idea.

I'd say split the diff and go 3" if your insurance company lets you, but dont jack it up heaps and then only run 32" or 33" rubber cos it will look stoopid.

I had a 2" OME coils and Koni shocks fitted to my SWB when I first got it. At the same time I brought 285/75R16 BFG Muds (33"), and they fitted fine.
I now have the same susp setup plus a 50mm bodylift and am running 35's with the guards trimmed alittle + spacers on the front radius arms.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
