Has anyone done a straight Gas conversion on a 86 hilux (4yc)
The engine on my lux is on the way out. When i change it, im thinking of going straight gas (might do it earlier if its not to hard to do myself).
Was also wondering if any other engine, other then the 4yc, will pretty much bolt straight in to a stock setup, and if the other engine is actually worth using.
Heard that the 4ye(?) is a possibility.
I dont have oodles to spend, which is why im not going to a v6.

The gas coversion ,you got to get a certfied work shop 2 do it and its a lot more than you would think and 4YE would be cheaper if you can find one at a two wheel drive wreckers in a Tarago And there are heaps of other options for the G52

engine swap
if you are going to go gas think about a 3.8 v6 or a 253 holden both legal in qld
The reason this conversion is easy is because no custom bellhousings need to be used. all you need is a bellhousing and clutch setup from behind a manual 'm series' engine. Then just get a 1988-92 cressida or similar aged supra with a 7mge in it. Then all you have to do is move engine mounts and setup the electrics and some other stuff.
I had found a turbo engine running for $300 but that fell through after i seemed to keen. he jacked the price up.
