Ok guys, have the sump of my 1HZ, for fitment of turbo oil dump, and there is no windage tray.
Have herd that there are some power gains to be had by fitting one, the question is how much? It would be easy to weld some heavy stainless gauze in the sump, to stop oil splash. However is it worth it going to all the trouble of fitment to get 1hp

I doubt it's worth it. the bottom of the sump is a long way down compared to older style motors without a ladder main bearing retainer intergral with the crankcase, ie so is the oil level when the motor is running - and the 1HZ is no rev-machine, with the turbo you'll rarely see more than 3000rpm unless you're a dead set hooligan (in which case why bother with a diesel). I think it's more the sort of mod you'd consider with a higher revving performance engine (which is probably more likely to have one as stock anyway)
sorry I don't have any numbers for you, that's just my feeling on it
Cheers dumbdunce, reckon your right, had another look at how far the crank protrudes into the sump, not far, there is a heap of space in the sump, thats where the 10 litres of oil fits
Its just a thought, got to think out side the square every once in a while.
