Just wondering if anyone knows a good way to keep water out of the electrics when doing deep water crossings. I often used to use a rubber glove over the dizzy on my old 4 cylinder 2wd car and thought about it for the feroza :)

Easiest and safest way is to attach a wading sheet. A tarp hung from the front of the car that creates an air lock in the engine bay and stops water rushing through the fan and radiator, causing damage.

However, if water gets into the 'bay', there is no real way to stop it entering the electrics, as the alternator needs to breathe.

You could look at getting a switch to isolate the alternator and thus run the car from the battery through the water but I am not sure of the logistics of this.

Cheers for the info Croz. I will give the tarp air lock thing a go next time i think by using loads of CRC i can keep the alternater running fine after water has gotten in there but the main problem was with the dizzy and leads attached to it, it takes a fair effort to clean all that out with CRC although it got it running smooth instead of missing.
