Everytime i see a big GU or GQ I think to myself that it would be sweet, but for how much... and what i've found the newer the truck the quicker the owner seems to get over it! No one is saying the comforts of a GQ sux, however with all taken into account, if I had my time again it would still be with an MQ because a GQ wouldn't of taken the punsihment, been in the same condition, been able to make engineering mistakes without too much fuss to fix, and resale value was not that much diffrent... There's no way i would of been ablel to do all that i did with anyother rig for the money i put in... and isn't that the bottom line (nissan pun not intended)

SWB MQ's still look way better than most other rigs and will always turn my head! ;)

personally GQ's to me are better I prefer to play with coils as there

cheaper and easier has anyone tried to put GQ gaurds on a MQ could be

looking at this thread so far I get the distinct impression that GQ's are for the mechanically challenged while the MQ's are for those who love to get down right dirty :D

No matter how many nuts n bolts are undone to do mods on either of the 2 models Its the nut behind the wheel that really matters, so long as its a nissan nut ....

Actually, I might even have to cop to that, as a GQ/Mav owner. I don't feel all that mechanically challenged in terms of skills and knowledge, but I'm mechanically challenged by the fact that my workshop is under the house. See, when I was working on jags it was no problem, but with the fourbies, they are too tall to drive in. So I have been doing much less work on vehicles since I got into 4WDs.

I mean it can all still be done, but I have to do it in my driveway, and it's a bit less practical (and a bit less secure.) It's a bummer because otherwise I have a really nice set-up here.

Still, I thought it was a pity that the thread got into model-bashing because I think GQs and MQs are both pretty good. I still think GQs have some obvious advantages - if you could get an MQ or a GQ for the exact same $$$ you'd buy a GQ, so the question is just whether the extras on a GQ are worth the extra $4000 or more that you're paying.

Both are pretty cool vehicles, just a question of what the extra comfort is worth to you in dollars. I looked seriously at MQs and ultimately decided that I could afford the extra for a GQ, so why not?

Haha, its not as tho this is a toyota - nissan thing either!!! But I suppose anyone would defend their own purchase.
If i had the dollars I'd have a GU ute :armsup:

I'm going to sit on the fence :D I have my MK which is great for day trips and stuff cos I have no problem denting it. But I'm going to buy a nice GQ Diesel for touring and daily driving.

one word.... Compromise

Everything 4x4 wise is a compromise (Spelling ??).

Ie; the 3 link front end on my 4" lifted GQ shorty don't flex as well as I would like in the scrub. But it drives gnarly smoothly on the road. The rear does all the work... I just concentrate on keepin that front end on the ground.

so basically this discussion will never be resolved..... :bad-words:
