I'm sure there used to be a 4500cc limit on Hiluxes. May apply for 4Runners too, don't know. Best contact www.dpi.wa.gov.au Licensing division. They will put you in contact with their technical department. The dude I talked to the other day was pretty cluey on what I could and couldn't do. I had a similar query to yours. Good luck.

Apply to the DOT and they might give you provisional permision to fit a v8 into your 4runner BUT if you read the permit carefully it will say they have the right to cancel the approval any time they like [ that could be the day you put over the pits for licencing

Fit in the Commodore V6 and avoid the hassels with licencing

I've had a 5lt HO in mine for 10 years and at the time I had to put up a very good case to get approval.

Not long after the word was V8's were going to be difficult to get approved in 4Runners if at all, but times seem to have now changed.

Only a few weeks ago I checked out a fully approved 94 4Runner with a Chev 350 !!!! It was fully approved in March last year so it seems if you are prepared to consult with an engineer etc anythings possible.

Probably has a lot to do with the initial conversion certification being shifted to private engineers and this onus removed from DOT etc.

Thanks Guys
What if any will the power do to the axles etc im looking at geting an auto behind the v8 but not sure which 1 to get any ideas ive heard the t700 isnt good enough behind the v6 so i cant see it being any good behind a v8.
Adrian does the v6 have problems with overheating??
Ive heard that people have problems with this but dont know for sure looked at your site and you will prob be able to tell me?
How much for a v6 with a auto??and which auto?
Im also thinking instead of a v8 maybe doing marlins dual case setup like they have on the newer tacomas? where they have a adaptor and then a box with either 2.28 or 4.7 then a chain driven case bolted behind the box.
Not sure wether to go with power or with the boxes i have been following a htread from a guy in aus but he doesnt sem to get many answers from marlin.
Thanks Bull

The axles are 30 spline same as the Landcruiser
Over heating Not if they are installed properly I have designed and developed a viscous coupled engine driven fan to fit the Commodore V6
My 4runner has the Commodore V6 engine, HD gearbox, Dual transfer case. Hi pinion diff, factory diff lock in the rear, Tru Trac in the front
etc etc
Come out to the workshop some time and have a look
You can only use the T700 auto behind the Commodore V6
My dual case kit is Advanced Adaptors gear drive boxes

I've got an Injected 5ltr in my Bundera backed up by a Modified TH700.... There are quite a few differences between the V6 and V8 TH700.... the obvious one is the bolt pattern.... so you can't get it wrong anyway!!

I have the earlier (VN) cable kickdown auto in mine. Ther are stronger due to having cast interior components (as the electronic ones have pressed components)....

Mine has heavy duty 3/4 Clutch Packs, Corvette Servo, Upgraded Oil Pump, and a lot of other little tweaks I don't understand....

I would not go a shift kit, mine shifts firm enough without one, and do you really want to try and chirp 31/33/35" tyres.... can I say Broken Diff!!
Look at that.... it does fit!
