Toss up

Post by Doggy »

Ok guys heres a choice for you all for my swb gq. Its already got 5 inch spring lift and 33' muddies
I'm spending money but the toss up is between (a) getting front and rear air lockers or
(b) adding a 2 inch body lift and chucking 35's on and a lockrite in the front. which i will all fit myself
The thing thats making the decision hard is the cost of the two choices. I can get choice b for around 1500 to 2000 dollaroonies plus as a bonus it causes instant bling increase where as choice a is around the 2500 to 3000 dollaroonies mark cuz i dont wanna fit these by myself. The money isnt really a concern because I can afford either option
Who thinks what??

This is a no-brainer. Front and rear air lockers.

air lockers yeah!

and if you can fit a lockright yourself, it's not that much more of a stretch to install air lockers yourself. the instructions that come with them are very comprehensive and if you follow them to the letter you really can't go wrong. the only 'special' tools you need are a dial gauge and a 1/4" NPT tap, and you can get both from a tool shop for about $100, or maybe you can borrow them. if you buy both your lockers at the same time, for cash, you should be able to haggle them down to around $1000 each, and you don't need to use the ARB compressor if you don't want to.

2 inch body shouldnt be any more than 100 bucks. or just cut the guards (3 inch springs and cut guards should fit 35s easily)

fit front air locker. (dont spend money on a lockright, spend a bit more and get the ARB)

and get a set of 35s. sell the 33s to help fund them.

5 inch lift? shouldnt 35s already fit? they are only another inch closer to the guard than a 33.

Lockers :D pssshhhh

Remember 35's will attract more attention, including the blue suits. That's ok though with QLD's liberal vehicle modification laws :?

toss up

Post by Doggy »

Im leaning towards the lockers..thinking maybe just the front though as the rear limo is already tight as all fark ( it chirps on concrete when turning slow). But then going ups choice of spending 3000 on cocaine and hookers does sound mighty attractive, bearing in mind i will have to develope a drug habit and explain to my dear girlfriend why all these women have been coming around, hmm she'd probably join in. COCAINE AND HOOKERS IT IS!!! . Bah! fark it why not do the lockers and bodylift then put 35's on at a later date if i decide to get them.
Will decide soon enough when i get my tax refund money comes

same setup as me. limo back locker front. if you still use it as a daily driver id say stick with this setup.

if you were going from 31 to 35 id say: lockers wont help you if none of your tyres are on the ground hung up on the diffs by ruts either side.

but 33 to 35 isnt much difference, tho every inch helps. ;)

35s wont cost much when you sell your 33s too.

lockers

Post by Doggy »

Yeah the 33's fit fine, they scrub a little bit at full travel but its more to stop me bashing the crap out of the sills and shiate like that. Bear in mind these are only ideas so nothings definate yet, i may just snap and go by a rice rocket or then again i may just leave my car as is and take up the offer of cocaine and hookers.......who knows???
