Vitara Reverse Light switch

Post by SiKiD_01 »

Does anyone know exactly where the reverse light switch is on a 1989 vitara SWB?

i've had a look around, but still not sure where it is.

so if anyone can help me out, that'd be great. at the moment, i have no reverse lights, and i want to hook up a worklight for the back of the car, and also, i might as well use it as a reverse light as well. i think i'll hook it up to the reverse switch, as well as having an by-pass swith to on the light at will. its just that with out it hooked up to the reverse switch, i know i'll leave it on and forget.

so, thanks again, and ahead.

bit of a mini-hijack.......but i haven't had reverse lights for months now. have checked behind the tailights and i'm not getting power up to them (the reverselights).....are the switches prone to failing? anyway to test them?

Well.... maybe by buying another one..... :D

test voltage on the wires along the way.

Mine dont currently work either.. I have everything fixed except for a short length of wire that's broken near the switch. I also have extra toggle switched rock/reverse lights though so it's all good

I probably have a spare here somewhere.

thanks,

but can i reach the switch by removing the plate around the gearstick and going through the body? or is it too far to reach this way?

i guess i might have to go under the car again. i'm getting very sick of getting under the car, it just seems i might as well drive the car from under there.

thanks again.
