Do these exist? And if so what model hiluxes do they come in?. I have seen these listed in the available ratios from US suppliers - are they aftermarket only???

They are a Toyota item for the US only
there are 15 diferent ratios available for the Hilux from 3.07 through 6.8
and at one stage I have had every one of them
If you want one you will have to get the complete carrier as the gear set will not fit the 3.72 through 4.556 carrier

Cheers, So are they high pinion or low pinion only??? If they are available in high pinion I will definitely pick one up (and a carrier) when I am in the US next year.

All the 3.54 diffs I have seen or imported have been low pinion
But you never know your luck in they might do a hi pinion now

So anyone know for sure if there is a high pinion option?

And how different is the carrier for the 3.54. I assume I cannot just fit a spacer behind the ring gear or machine the ring on the carrier.

If I buy a set of these gears it will be when I am in the US, and it would be a bugger to have to bring back a carrier too.

Yes I am interested. More details? Is it a genuine one or an aftermarket Mcnamara one?

How do you tell. The centre is in my garage and I've spun it around but don't see any markings.

I don't know either but someone here should know how to tell a genuine toyota ring and pinion from an aftermarket one. What centre and casing is it in and where did you get it from?

I've checked the centre again and it's got "AN.ENG.11x39. 3.54" stamped on it. (Now how did I miss that  ) I't's an open diff centre out of a Hilux 8" diff.

I'd say they were aftermarket. the factory gears are usually stamped with only the ratio, on the ring gear, and only to 2 significant figures, or they have no markings at all.

The centre is in good condition, it was rebuilt approx 15mths ago. Ibought the front diff complete of a mate so I could do a solid swap in my Surf.
I'm running 4.8's so have taken this complete centre out. If your interested I think I could get the other diff centre as well.
