Just curious... What tyres do we run on our rigs?

Just curious... What tyres do we run on our rigs?
I have 3 sets:
ROAD: Bfg muds 255/85/16 (33x10.5)
TRIPS: Radial Claws 305/70/16 (33x12.5)
OFFROAD: Bias Claws 35/13.5/16
Only have 3 sets because I accumulate tyres from different vehicles.
Will get rid of the 35's in favour for some 33" swampers as gearing with the 35's is getting to be a major issue. Want 5.29s but dont want to lose my front arb... so 35's are to go.

Grant you can always go up to 4.90's with your current diffs.
Caps 510 upgraded to 4.90's (from the 4.636) with his lwb 3.5 DOHC auto and he wreckons it turned the 35" BFG's just fine.
I have 33x12.5x15" BFG muds for the road and trips.
34x11.5x15 Simex JT2's for offroad (will upgrade to 35x11.5x15 Pedes after the SAS is done).
I sold my factory alloys with 31" BFG all terrains last year.

Yeah I cant justify the $$$ for the 4.9's. Changing tyre sizes costs nothing virtually, and with some transfer case gears , soon maybe, it would solve my low range dramas.
After that i will see how i feel about 4.9s.

Hi Guys,
for road I run BFG 265/75/16 AT's on factory alloys, I can't go too much larger without stuffing up the gearing and power band when towing the camper on long trips. Due for a new set soon and will probably stay with the same.
For play I use BFG 285/75/16 MT's on Nissan GU rims. Love the extra clearance and the way the larger tyres roll over obstacles that stop the smaller ones. I think I would definitely need lower gearing in the diffs or T case to run anything much larger as the quad cam engine lacks a bit of low down torque. Can't wait to hear how the crawler gears for the bigger T case go.

3.5 L with too much stuff, and a front locker waiting on the shelf.
Went for smaller ones on this 4by,
7" ROH rims with 31" MTRs on them. (and being a GLX they stick outside the guards )
Didn't want to lose too much power and economy like the old truck, but thinking after some ruts on the weekend that maybe 32s mighta been better?

96 Paj 2.8 TD 2" lift, Snorkel, LR Tank, Dual Batt, winch, 32 MTRs, RT tent and rack, polyairs etc
I am running a set of 32 x 11.5x 15 Maxxis Buckshot mudders for both on and off road which I am happy with up here as there isn't really alot of mud mostly loose rock and dirt so they seem to work well. I have 32" Mongrels on the zook.
Cheers

is cheesy selling these for you in the FS section?
On the triton i running 32x 11.5x 15 MTR's on 15x8 outlaw alloys..
I run these all the time and find it hard to fault em...
May think about going to 33 MTR's but this would require gears/t case gears, oh and $$$$$...
Frank, how do u find the JT2 with gearing, wear ???

DON'T USE ICE CREAM AS AMMUNITION
running 32/11.5/15 MTR's on 15x8 alloys and these r daily drivers....
Find it hard to fault the MTR's...
Near future may see some 33 MTR's but this will require some gearing and the obvious $$$$$
Frank, how do u find the 34 JT2's on the gearing, noise and wear side ???

Ditto
Though my next set will probably be 33's on a rim with less backspacing, The truck is nice and trim right now - the tires are still flush with the fender flares, but I think it could use some more stability with a wider stance.
I'll keep this current setup for the trekking stuff though.

seems everyone is going 35"s is anyone concerned with this? as has been mentioned tie rods and shitt??? ill be interested to see how they go, cos im wanting new tyres in the new yr, and if 35" seem like they go alright, and dont do too much damage might go them instead of 33"s... dunno, would be interested in the longevity of the front end with 35"s, so keep us update doug and hekta

My hope is that with the front and rear locker I can crawl stuff and not beat the shit out of the truck.
it run fine with them
