just wondering what ppl think of the toyo brand. Trying to help a mate decide on tyres to go across to perth on, nullabor etc.. So hot roads and all other things u could come across.

So at the moment it is either the goodriches or toyo. i know the bfs are a good tyre but dont know much about the toyos. how do they handle in the wet also? any info is much appreciated.

Last year while in Innaminka, I spoke to the people running the tyre shop up there. They swear by the Toyo tyre for the roads up there.

the BFG A/T's are pretty good in DRY rock when they are let down.. BFG are well known and a good touring tyre.

Having had a Toyo Opat in my hands I was going to put on wifes Pathy, they are NOTHING more than a HT (highway terrain).

Coopers AT, or Pirelli Scorpions(which I went for) by miles.


Opats have a bullet proof reputation on Exploroz with desert trekkers...

Have Toyo Opats on my Pajero & have found them to be very good. Have not done anything major; some mud, snow & sand & they seem as good as the BFG's. Advantages are that they are quieter on road, (mates with BFG's verify), don't collect as many stones as the BFG's & are cheaper. For basic off road, I think they are hard to beat.

seeing you only put two options...

I'd say BFG all terrains....

my particular choice would have to be the Goodyear Wranglers MTR's or Coopers ST

I run OPAT's on the wifes TD80 Cruiser and on my TD Hilux and i would never go with anything else as far as Allterrain tyres go. There smooth quite and on my wifes 80 with 295-16's the heavyest balance weight needed to balance them up was 25gm's. Also had BFG A/T and as with most BFG's they start to shimmy in the steering at about 60% worn and cant fix that.
