I have a safari snorkel fitted to my 47 troopy, and i am missing the tube that runs from the snorkel to the airbox. a replacement from safari will sting me $270.00 but.... there has to be a cheaper way can anyone give me any info about using another type of tubing. i dont want to use metal, i just need a flexible hose that is cheap but is going to be waterproof. the snorkel is mounted on the passenger side of the troopy and is supposed to go under the airbox and join to the front of the airbox. cheers
$10 is a hell of a lot cheaper than an original replacement. i cant believe the amount of money people want for the most basic items, i just knew someone out there could put me onto something cheaper. thanks for the advice, just might go and have a word to my local wrecker .
you can all ways go really cheap! have you got a clothes dryer? some of them have heat pips coming out of them, just take that off your dryer and use it, haha you asked for cheap, or you could use pipeing from a plubming store or go to a building site theres some really cheap options but i like the $10 idear too
i was also thinking of going to a swimming pool shop and scooping some tube of them you know that tubing that drags behind a creepy crawly, now i think about it theres no end to the posibilities, just slobber silastik around to waterproof it and a hose clamp......

i wood strongly recomend to stay well clear of the pool tube and vacum hoses as they chaff and wear very quickly..i wood find some large diameter raidator hose from either a truck spares...pirtek...enzed etc as they wood be able to help you out with custom stuff too

I went to an enginearing joint today and he showed me some heavy duty stuff that is $40 a metre, i can see what you meen about chaffing Muss but the safari replacement part is plastic so you would think it would chaff too. this stuff i looked at today was fairly thick and had a metal spiral reinforcing running through so would be highly unlikly to pinch shut under heavy load. thing is, im now wondering what kind of heat build up im going to get from the exaust. maybe cover it with heatproofing where it is near the exaust? this may also cure the chaffing too if i put it in the places it might rub. mmmmmmm..........
