Fitting Winch
Fitting Winch
Hi all, just fitted a factory steel bull bar to my GU (ARB made I think) and there is a sticker on the top which says you can only fit a Warn XD9000 winch to it. Is this a legal requirement to keep the bar ADR compliant or can I just shove any winch in it?(was thinking T.MAX 9500) any help on this matter would be great.
I reckon it's there to boost sales of warn winches.
I don't see any reason why you couldn't fit any make of winch that's of good quality.
The only possible reason I could imagine is that it affects the weight of the bar and therefore the airbag deployment/shock sensing in some way? I really think this is unlikely, but it's the only possible thing i could think of

This is not legal advice.
Maybe it is there to say that GU's are big heavy whales and need atleast an 9000lb winch.
Also Nissan sell Warn as Factory approved accessories and anything bigger made by warn is a different size (bigger gearbox).
Got a mate with a HS9500lb Warn and he had to cut and change a supporting bracket to make it fit. Pretty sure this is the same with the warn 10000lb and up also. I think the drum size is the same just the other diemensions are bigger.

i walked in there about to pick one up, when i decided to drive over to brawn(only 5ks further) and said i am about to buy a T-MAX will you match the price on your winch(ZR9500) for cash..They agreed.
Great winch! Crappy solinodes!
the warns are just over advertised there not really any better then anything else just got a bigger name from alot of promotion brawn and t-max are the same talk to colin at brawn in dandy good guy, hobbzy is also he has another winch there made by someone else i think it looks like a warn but its not one they were going to put there pro comp name on it and sell it as pro comp winchs i think they where cheap aswell. they just say to put warns only becuase they are in bed with nissan to sell them as standard accessories the brawn 9500 is the same length as the warn 9000 so the brawn and t-max will fit no worries.
