We are allowing 4 point internal cages in utilities for the Ateco Warn Winch Challenge 2004. As long as it has 'A' pillar protection, it will be allowed

Supplementary Rules

As per the CCDA Rules and Regulations,

1. 6 point roll cages for LWB and SWB vehicles. 4 point internal cage will be accepted for utilities. Must include ‘A’ pillar protection.
2. Helmets and Harnesses are mandatory.

Please note that these rulings are final. If you are unable to or unwilling to comply with this ruling, you have the right to withdraw from the event with all monies refunded.

Please Note: All information has been placed on the AWWC Website. (http://www.awwc.org.au)

does this mean an exo cage that is made out of FIA/ CAMS approved tube and to FIA specs wont pass?

This doesn't make sense to me; this is just how I see it.

1st point. With an exo you will have less chance of getting covered in glass from broken screens as well as reducing panel damage

2nd point. With an exo cage on a ute/ tray top you can hard mount an effective 6 point, or 8 point cage to the chassis.

3rd point. A cage with only A & B pillar hoops will still lean back in to the cab in a roll over pushing the A hoop straight into the driver and navigators heads.

Finally. In my GU CC with an after market seat I have about 3" between my head and the top of the door/ roof put in a 2" piece of tube and 1/2" foam and I am down to half an inch. And I know a few other people running these trucks who have lifted their seats who will have the same trouble.

In reference to a harness you can pick up off the original bolt holes in the floor, then building a frame off the upper bolt hole and the inertia reel bolt hole, or set up a sandwich plate inside and outside off the back wall of the cab, both of which would pass CAMS regs.

It’s a great idea introducing these new regulations but I feel there are a few issues that need to be addressed before the regs are set in concrete.

Why dont you guys just have the same rules as cams, after reading all this there seems to be no actual specs for the cages exept they must be 6 point (or 4 in some cases) and have A piller protection, so are you saying that if i run some coat hanger wire around my cabin this would be acceptable. Why dont you just go with the cams regs. They have been around for ages and prob have a lot more expereince in this.

I am not ready to compete yet but a cage is on my list of things todo. If you guys are going to change your minds every year i might have to put it off to im ready to compete

EDIT: I do appologise cams dont even have specs at the moment (oh well just go with the coathanger wire)

Ateco Warn Challenge Supplementary regulations

Bulletin Number 2

Notice to all invited competitors.

The organisers appreciate the short time frame for fitment of 6 point roll cages and A pillar protection for the upcoming Ateco Warn Challenge.

Therefore, we would like any current invited competitor, who feels they do not have sufficient time to complete the safety requirements to contact Matt Fenner (ph 03 9793 0002) for a individual roll cage and 4 point harness inspection at their earliest convenience.

Have got a first aid cert (level 2 workplace), but that is only really good for band aids (at work we really on the medics to be 2 paces behind us). And have a fair idea of first aid. If it aint going to do more damage if they are left where they are, leave them till a real medic arrives is my theory.

As I assume the course first aid kit will consist of neck braces, back boards etc and a qualliffied person to operate it all. As I have used this stuff when I worked on an airfield (all this was carried on the truck), but its been a while.

Will be interesting how they work this with not all stages being in the same general location (well thats the impression I got the other day).

As for a bit of disscussion about first aid and procedures etc. I wouldnt have a problem with having a get together on the friday some time. As we plan to get there about lunch time and our stage doesnt need much work (bit of bunting thats it).

Ummmm.....sorry I was really joking a bit as in "crash" meaning....

Ah well, serves me right for being silly.

I agree it would be a good thing to get together on Friday before the carnaqge starts and have a bit of a briefing.
I will have as much equipment as needed, including oxygen.

I'm a Retired Paramedic...teach "4 Wheelers First Aid" and other stuff. So you guys are in good hands (I think).

The official website appears to be down (i can't access it at least) and i fear it will be down before i get another chance to find out where it is before i leave. I know it is somewhere near old sale rd, but thats about it.

Or use these details I coppied off the above link

Coming from Melbourne, take Princes Hwy, pass the exits to Warragul, and take the exit to Nilma. Turn left, and then turn right on to Bloomfield Road. Follow Bloomfield Road for approximately 7-10 minutes to find Old Sale Road on the right at the crest of a hill. Follow Old Sale Road for about 10-15 minutes. Look on your left for the ‘Bindarree’ sign on a white fence.

VicRoads map 97 - C3

Just a word of warning. The cops LOVE to sit in the service road in Nilma just as you turn right onto Bloomfield Road off the freeway. They are well hidden and will grab you if you go over the 60k speed limit there - it's a long one.
