What would be the smarter thing to do if i was getting 1 set of lockers.
Put them on the front or rear?
Its not for my vehicle, its just a general question.
what would be the benifits or drawbacks of having them on the front or back.

Try a search, its been asked about a dozen times before.
Rear should have better or equal traction vs. the front. If you lock the front first, you're apt to put more stress on the front than it can take w/o the rear providing sufficient assistance.
In search of an MQ (offset) H233b rear, housing only preferred, plus a complete GQ or GU front (4.6 ratio ideal) to be shipped to the US. Cheap! Email/PM if you can help.

I agree, Dad has his setup this way. LSD rear and air locker front, the front locker seems to pull him over stuff and keep the wheels on the ground.

Maybe it's not the answer that you are looking for, but I'd buy crawler gears first, you'll get more use out of them than lockers. Crawler gears cost about the same as one locker. I bought twin lockers many years ago for my GU, but since I had crawler gears fitted I don't flick the blue switches as much as I used to.

What...?? so obviously your ability to keep all wheels on the ground is enhanced cause the newfound speed or lack there of that you can approach hard Shite with. So picking 'the right line' on the fly is made easier........ I have never been in or driven a truck with rockhopper gears, do you ever find yourself riding brakes+clutch going down hard rocky shite... ??? Or do they honestly make that much of a reduction.... You have got me interested......
My next investment is going to be dual lockers irrespective of how good the limo is in the rear I wan't two at once....
And this is mainly because I can easily find trails where my vehicles ability to articulate is compromised and no matter what amount of dicking around with lines you do.... the particular trail just needs lockers...IMHO rockhopper gears and lockers would go hand in hand... ?? Is that a fair enough statement...
I guess having dual lockers will also give you a sense of "oh well if I spin two wheels here I can just flick a couple a switches".....whereas unlocked things are a bit of a hassle... I hate attacking shit at pace...And that's another reason for the locker purchase....sooo hopefully reduce fricking panel damage...GRRRRR
But yeah I have enough dosh for a front locker and I was gonna put in front locker and then wait... But I decided I can prolly walk in with a wad of cash and go... do it for x amount and hopefully come out 200 dollars in front.... maybe ???

okay, from my opinion, my GQ came with an air locked rear, it went well, but at times it needed the front to help out, so i purchased the front, i found an obsicle that needed the front to complete it, and didnt even need the rear on,
i would say go the front first as the limo rear will help it along,
just recently, i put rockhoppers in, that has made it so good i can hardly explain it, nice, slow and controled are the words that come to mind.
i too am duel locked and going slow......

I am aware that at the moment there is another thread regarding crawler gears. However I would like to know how extensive the modifications are that one has to make to the transfercase....
A few stupid questions ...
Do ya have to yank the transfercase out to facilitate easier installation ??
Do ya have to dick round with stuff that I don't understand like gear backlash......?
My old man and I have replaced clutches and done a diesel conversion on his rangie...so we can play with spanners... Do ya reckon we could handle this ?? Or is there a bit more to it than: Open, remove, replace, close...
