Hi Guys' was wanting to know if the 4 litre petrol motor out of an MQ will fit into an MQ short wheelbase that has had an L28 motor in it. thanks

I reckon it could be but.....
On th 4lt the Exhaust is on the oposite side to the L28.
hence u would need complete new exhaust..
anyway why bother the old 4ltr is a dinosaur!!

4Lt has heaps more tourquw than the L28 itsa good old motor

does anyone know if the bell housings on either gearbox is the same I know the input splines are the same.

All the specs for power on these things I see are not far behind the 4.2, but I suppose different years and emission controls are behind that.

Suffice to say, every time I've seen a 4 litre it's been for a price premium, despite the extra age.

Im interested in whether the 5 speed goes on them too :D
