I have a GU patrol and recently had ROCKHOPPERS fitted by Pro Comp.
I asked the same question.(which ones better)Hobzee told me that he could give me no reason what so ever why i need to spend the extra $400 to buy Gearmasters.Gearmasters made in Australia, Rockhoppers made in japan were the worlds best gear manufacturing comes from IE Nissan/toyota gears. So save the $400 and put it to other Goodies!
Gear reduction is identical between both brands 85% reduction

Gearmaster in my GQ - No problems at all so far, had about 5 hard session on them to date.
The shop putting them took a few goes to get the grinding thing down, but no problems overall.
I went with gearmaster as they have the backlash eliminator, and a tiny bit lower gearing.

THANK`S for the infomation as to which one is best. I am keen to install them myself to save $$ but i was just looking through workshop manual to see how to and found SPECIAL EQUIPMENT REQUIRED DIAL GAUGE PULLER SET PRESS AND PRESS PLATES T45 TORX SOCKET SO do I need all this or can it be done with normal tools ?

i fitted a duel case to mine. same gear work as the rock hopper gearset.
you need a torx socket!
i got all my bearings on / off without a press. the circlips are a @#$% i have three sets of circlip pliers and none of them made it easy.
no need for dial gauge i think!
cheers
