i looked at one similar to this for a mate about a year ago, the motor is not a bad choice and has more torque than u'd think.
As for being raped, most of them would have been i think. Look down the line and ask what diff ratios are running. A friend had a 6cyl chev probably putting out the same figures and he did a bit of damage to the diffs coz of the way he drove.
