why don't you want a springover? it will cost about the same, both options require engineer's certificate, and the springover will perform better especially off road.

Cheers guys, More info on my truck

Post by CRUISERMAN »

Thanks heaps for that, I'm on the way back up on the build up of my truck, Currently the cab is still off it getting painted midnight blue, and I finished welding the custom tray today. Basically I want to build a good all-rounder. I'm in Toowoomba in QLD so there are plenty of hills so more of a crawler but still be OK on the road (gear ratio's/ tyres). I've purchased 33 x 12.5 ProComps on 15x10 RockCrawlers, machined up 2" ally cab lift to get some clearence. The reason I didn't want to go spring over was (heaven forbid) she goes over It would be easier to swap back. Not to mention QLD sux for getting any kind of mod approved. The extenda shackles and leaves sound the way to go. From what i understand you can go 30% higher from standard however the "standard" isn't written anywhere so I can get the lift i'm after as long as I don't change the basic engineering design. I'f anyone has any more ideas please let me know.

ahh, queensland. you're right, you'll never get a springover approved. might even have difficulty with extended shackles - best to talk to an engineer beforfe you start to find out what you can and can't get approved.

33's, body lift, 2" suspension lift (pull the 2 bottom leaves from the rear spring packs and remove the front anti-sway bar), diff locks front and rear makes a very capable and fairly low budget off road machine that will still work well on road.

extended shackles are illegal in qld. No engineer can approve them because they are illegal... Any engineer that does approve them doesnt mean shit cause theyre still illegal.

i totally agree with you mate that over two inches is illegal in qld but many places make just over two inch extended shackles for cruisers.....and they are classed as two inch shakles and will pass any road worthy....cheers

Who are you eliteforce?

Sounds like you have some misinformation really.

You could have a whole tribe of engineers tell you that extended shackles are ok in QLD but if the transport dept. knob who pulls you up knows there stuff you will be stuffed!

LUCK on the other hand is a different thing.

Main thing is that shackles are not a big issue really cos you can change em back to standard very easily. It is all the other stuff ya have to do to get leaves to REALLY work that will bring ya unstuck

This has been done to death.
