1st gen snorkle?

Post by hbar314 »

Is there any sort of aftermarket snorkle for the first body style of trucks? I want the clean looks of a professionally made one.

Check out my 79 Lux in the thread below. I fitted a genuine GU Patrol snorkel to it. It fits so well that when Love_Mud came over and looked at it he couldn't believe it wasn't meant for a Toyota. I have since changed the "Nissan" emblem for a "Toyota" one and you wouldn't know it a Nissan product. Love_Mun is now in the process of fitting one to his 1st Gen.

Go to an exhaust shop and get them to bend one up for you. If it's a diesel, cut a hole in the top of your guard and use the elbow that runs thru to the engine bay. About 2.5" dia. Carefully remove this and rotate it about 90 degrees clockwise so it lines up with the hole in the guard. Put a rubber 90 degree bend thru the guard and connect it all up. If it is petrol can't help you much. But the pics in the link should do the trick for you to get some ideas....

I got it fron Nissan here in Australia.

I only just noticed that you are from Texas in the USA. I know that the GU Patrol that it came off was not sold in the USA so you may have trouble tracking one down.

You may be able to buy one online from a Nissan dealer in Australia.

Below is a link to a dealer that would sell parts online. The part number you require is A6575-VB001A and has a list price of $280 AU.

If you have trouble getting one I could send one over for you. Just PM me if you need help.

Cheers

Got a stupid newbie question, how do you go about putting a snorkel on aftermarket airfilters such as this?

urrg. I saw the hooks on the bed and dated it. Thats one of the easy ways to date the body styles in the states is because the hooks ended in 83. Thanks
