1.0L to 1.3L motor conversion (alternator troubles)

Post by Riglet »

i need help with my 1993 stockman, i am nearly finished replacing my 1litre with a g13a motor and everything is running well except for the alternator isn't charging enough at idle if i keep the revs up it will go al day long, i have been told that 1.0L have an exterior regulator for the alterntor and that i have to bypass it. is this true how would i go about doing this. :?

cheers, steve

late model 1 litres may be different, but mine was an external regulator. auto elec only charged me $20 to do it, but I can do a diagram when I get home, much later tonight

No official 5 speed for the 1.0 litre, but I believe it is possible to convert a super carry van gearbox to work. Other questions are:

a) I thought 84 was the last year for the 1.0 litre - is it 85 build or reg date?
b) I don't reckon a 1.0 will pull 5th very well, especialyl if you have bigger tyres, they aren't reallt torquey.

If you have no motor in it atm, how about going to a corolla motor? I;m not a big fan, but It would have to be better than pouring money into a 1.0 and trying to get a 5 speed running.
