Nissan GQ leaky rear axle seals

Post by Poppy »

Hi All
I am new to this site, so hope I am going about this the right way.
I am on my 3rd set of axle seals in my GQ ute and still leaking.
My mechanic suggests getting housing straightened as it may be bent, but another suggestion was to replace wheel bearings when I replace seals. This apparently fixed the same problem for someone else
Any advice would be appreciated
Cheers Poppy

Also check to ensure breather line is open and clean

The axle surface that the oil seal runs on may be damaged, and destroying the lip on the new oil seal. This can be fixed with a 'Speedie sleeve' (sometimes called redi-sleeve) or driving the oil seal into the housing so it runs on a slightly different spot on the axle.
