Seating Capacity & Door Covering

Post by antt »

ok, so with my exo i want to run a bar down the b pillar and then a horizontal bar back to the d pillar

like this->

but, is it legal to cover up the back door like this? i've swapped the front seats to 2 door vitara seats, so they slide forward and tilt automatically to allow entry to the rear seats,so would i be allowed to block the rear door with a bar?

if not, what if i leave the back seat out and get a mod plate to make it a 2 seater, would i then be able to cover over the back door? or is it still a no-no?

the final option would be to use those post clamp things and make the 2 bars removable, but i dont really wanna go this route cause it'll be a pita taking them on and off

people take their rear seats out of 80 series and Patrols and put cargo barrirs behind the front seats so I can't see the problem. You will need to have one of those emergency window tools mounted in the rear for easy access tho.

just shave the handles and bog the door gap. it'll look like a stretched two door.

if you are changing the seating capacity, the vehicle has to be mod plated. Even the patrol/80's with the rear seats removed and a cargo barrier put in has to be plated. We had a guy in our club just recently done for this. I am not joking.......
