Well GOOD MORNING everyone!!!

What can i say, but WOW

I will be posting up the stage scores and overall scores for each day aswell as a quick run-down on each stage and the highlights of the weekend, but first of all i have a HUGE list of people i NEED to thank!!!

A huge thankyou must go to the team @ "ROVER PARK". The support and enthusiasm of Hans and Heidi (and crew) was out of this world!! The event areas looked awesome and the hospitality is second to none!!

Mick Garner (Bobtail) and Jamie (CJER) thanks heaps for doing such a awesome job with the scoreing. You guys were on the game all the time over the two days and i could not be happier. NOT one person complained about the calls as they were so consistant and so accurate 100% of the time!!!!!

Kate (ruff's better half) and Bec (My better half) thank you for keeping the scores accurate and up to date and also for cooking for all the competitors over the two days!!. I was so impressed with the speed the scores were been posted, whenever a stage was finished the score was up within seconds for everyone to see!!! (that should keep me in the good books for a while )

Terry(Link) thankyou for filming one awesome event, i cannot wait to see this one. (maybe we need more than one Vid to fit in all the action )

Jason and Jane (4X4TV), Thankyou for making the long trip up from melbourne and taking the time out to film our little event! (You Victorians are lucky, you will be able to catch all the highlights on TV)

Damo (Exclusive Tyres) and Chris (blu125) thankyou for your GREAT comentry over the two days, your ability to get a crowd going is awesome!!!

Sam (Strangerover), One of the Main reasons the event was such a huge success was due to the great Tracks, The input and knowledge from you was unbelievable and really paid off at the end of the day, also thankyou for getting things like the trophies and witches hats organised. And a really big thank you for getting all those awesome tube buggies out in time for the event!

A HUGE thankyou must go to Mark Lacey and the Crew from "ARB SOUTHSIDE" and Sam Overton from "HAULTECH ENGINEERING" for providing 1st, 2nd and 3rd prise packs containing some aswesome prises like UHF handhelds, staun Tyre defaltors and much more!!

A big thanks to "EXCLUSIVE TYRES" and "MICKEY THOMPSON" for providing the official shirts, wicked comentry and all the shirts, hats and stubby coolers you gave away! (also that tyre for ROD )

Thankyou to "OUTERLIMITS4X4.COM" and all the users for the great support and knowledge that you all provide!

Last but Not least a very HUGE THANKYOU must go to the Competitors and the SPECTATORS for such a great time!!!! With out either one of these groups a Comp will not last and will not grow!! You are all equally important to this great sport of Rockcrawling!!!
The Spectators thankyou for showing your support by making the long trip up or down to watch us play, also thankyou for providing the great atmosphere by cheering us all along!!
The competitors THANKYOU for supporting this great event, i know you all had a ball. I can only hope that as the sport grows that all competitors approach this event (and others) with the guts and determination you guys did. I cannot thank the guys from NSW's that always put in the huge effort of driving 12 hours or more just to compete!!!

If anyone is interested, I wanted to amuse myself for 5 minutes and work out some stats to remove vehicle reliability from the results. If you divide the sum of scores for less than 40 point stages by the number of stages (where score<40) the results become an average scores per stage:

I only included those who scored less than 40 on at least 2 stages to make it reasonably representative. The intereseting thing is that most of the averages are pretty close except for the top 3.


I couldn't tell which were mech failures and which were pointing out though - so the addition of the pointing out scores would make things more accurate.

I did the stats again but normalised the results because the average score for each stage was different (some stages are harder than others). The normalisation accounts for this. The new averages (the values don't mean much except for comparative purposes) are:

So whichever way you look at it POS had the lowest average, followed by Ruff and Fourwheelin, but the normalisation changes the lower end around a bit. If someone can tell me how many of the 40point scores were due to driver error and not mechanical failure, it will be interesting to redo the scores to account for this.

i missed the 3rd course on sat due to making repairs and then broke it again in the last course on sat,Then finished the first 3 stages on sunday and then broke again on the last stage.

Aren't you, Ruff and Sam (and probably others) all running the same strength rear pinions??? Why do you break yours more often.

I am running a 60 series rear, i changed to this due to the fact i kept destroying centres (ring gears) on the hilux!

The thing is, its totally all my own fault!

The Buggy was working great and i had been flogging the arse of it for 2 months with no breakages! I decided to increase my rear pinion angle slightly and i snapped two pinions in two days!!

So i just have to wind it back down!

I think once as i do this it will be fine again!

Howdy All,

We were up filming for 4WD TV in Melbourne (Jason and Jane).

Just wanna say a HUGE thanks to all involved for such a great weekend and also for your massive support of 4WD TV. We are working insanely hard to bring out the best show possible and with footage from PUOSU, the Vic 4Wheelin community isn't going to know what hit them!!!!

I seriously couldn't believe how nice everyone was on the weekend. Adrian, Tony, Jamie, Mick, Jamie, Kate, Bec, Bob, BJ, Sam, Rod and EVERYONE else I met (heaps!!) are all great people and considering they'd never met or heard of me prior to lobbing up in a hire car (the ol' fairlane hire car sort of looked out of place at Rover Park!!!), were nothing but welcoming to Jane and I. Thanks to you all!!! You are all great ambassadors for our sport.

Congrats to all competitors...you all showed huge amounts of character with your dedication to the sport, especially to Jamie and the guys who had to shoot off Saturday night to pickup parts and repair their rigs at crazy hours on Sunday morning.

The people and PUOSU as a whole was awesome. PUOSU really is the future of the sport. It is hard to go past the combination of technical driving, big horsepower (power to weight), great event organisation and killer terrain. The great viewer vantage and minimal movement of the crowd means it is very spectator friendly. We are going to do our best to promote PUOSU in Vic and in other states once we start airing there (aiming for most states early next year). We love this stuff!!!! I was struggling to contain my excitement through most of the event to ensure our viewers don't just get audio of me going nuts when the tracks were driven hard!!!

Thanks again to the organisers, officials, competitors, announcers (they really got the crowd fired up!!!) for the event and to Adrian for inviting us up to film. Sorry I couldn't find most people to say goodbye to before leaving but we had to shoot off quickly once the presentations were over. We made our flight at Coolangatta with a whole 5 minutes to spare!!!!

Also, I couldn't recommend Rover Park enough as a place to go and stay for a holiday. It is a beautiful place and feedback re the tracks up there was great...and 4000 acres of land is a fair amount to explore! Can't wait to get my rig up there for some hard wheelin. Hans and Heidi and their daughters were sensational. Heidi also came and chilled with us for a couple of hours at our camp fire on Saturday night. You can't ask for much more than that. Also, Rose and Steven (Casino locals) who were in the van next to us on Saturday night took us in like family...feeding us up and helping us with everything in general. Great people!!!!!!

Can't wait to get back up there for future events, and another huge thanks to everyone who has offered to get us out on drive days, future events and help us bring more of what people want to watch to the big screen!!

Congrats to everybody that was involved with this weekend. It came off better than I could have ever imagined.

IMO the coursed worked out awesome. I think is was a great combination of haulin and crawlin. It was amazing how the results turned out with three totally different rigs taking the top placings and also the results that Beebee got on the Sundays courses. If Beebee had taken the bonus line on the last course (which he would have made easily) he probably would have ended up with a sunday total closer to zero (would have got the -10 for the bonus and saved a few reverses).

For me personally - I had an absolute blast. Every course was extremely challenging for lots of different reasons, I didnt have any easy courses and I think that every course was harder than every competition that I have competed in so far. The possibility of rolling or DNFing was a reality for me in every course and this really kept the pressure on.

In one of the other threads sombody asked where was the mogrover - well it was there and it wason recovery duties but I am so glad that it was not competing. On the many occasions that it ventured onto the courses it looked really out of place, scary almost. This sort of competition is way beyond it - and thats not because its big and long and wide and would take out all the cones it just simply wouldnt be able to drive the terrain and would probably end up on its roof just trying. The mog is still very good machine but these buggies drive rings around it.

When we were setting the courses I had a real fear that what we were wanting to drive was going to be too hard. We backed off on a lot of things that we were originally wanting to do just to be on the safe side. As it turned out the rigs that drove the courses drove them easily - I think from now on the courses are going to get alot harder.

Had I successfully taken the bonus line I probably would have finished the day with either 0 or -1 (can't exactly remember the reverses) but still finished in 10th position. It just wasn't worth it. I felt that I didn't have enough approach for it and the front bar would just dig into the ground and act as a pivot to enable yet another endo. Too much hassle to fix the damage. So for me, it just wasn't worth the 10 points.

As for the major difference in Sat and Sun scores - all I can say it that a little sleep makes a huge difference

Have to take the opportunity to say once again how much I enjoyed being a part of PUOSU

I counted in excess of 200 not including children sitting on one side of the hill on the sunday around lunch time. There would have been at least another 50 or more that i didnt count. We also didnt do too much advertising for this as we didnt want to bite off more than we could chew first time round.

WOW, sounded like a top event, we had contractual obligations to film in Townsville, but would have really liked to be there.
