WANT TO FIT A 6 TO THE LUX!!!!
Evening all,
Im going to fit a Holden V6 and auto box to my 89 dual cab petrol lux but just want too see whats involved in the conversion. If any one out there has done this conversion and still have the marks adaptors manuals, any chance you could scan them and email then to me? i just want to see if the job is within my capabilities. Does anyone know of any web sites that show you a step by step brake down of someone doing this conversion(like supra surf and his 5mge). Any help would be greatly apprecieated?
Cheers

y put a 7mge in, y not go with a 1jzgte or a 1uzfe.
Not such a simple conversion, apparently the toyota v8s bolt up to the Surf autos.
Any body make a bellhousing, flywheel, clutch etc to bolt the toyota V8 to a Hilux 5spd?
Where the f#@k did that come from
I was dead set on putting a 1uzfe into my lux, but after seeing how tight they fit as Guts has showed, I'm not so keen anymore. So many more mods have to be done if you plan on doing it right compared to the commo motor.
I'm pretty sure that for most people you could install a full commo conversion and spend a bit for a few more hp and still be cheaper than the toyo v8, and have cheap replacement parts in the future.

Celica 6?
Anyone got any sites with the commo conversion on them?
As with the "celica 6" we dont get the 6 cylinder version in australia only in the supra or cressida. Does the 7mge bolt directly to the auto hilux (surf) box?

All auto 7M engines came on the A340 type auto which makes it a bolt up to any A340 series Surf 4WD auto

Im just about to start this process in a Bundera! Ive started pulling the old diesel motor down and hopefully out this weekend!
Im not a mechanic, but going to have a crack at it myself! only the one person to blame when something ..... up! Just going to take my time with it cause the old $$s' are limited to student funds!
I have done it and it took me about 9 months. I only work 14 shifts a month so work it out based on most of my spare time spent on it. I got a '84 extra cab no engine or box for $2500 and the V6 and auto for $600. Spent $9000 on the road including engineers but did EVERYTHING myself (Marks kit) and I have a top bloke at the wreckers. I left nothing to chance but had a lot of trouble with the vehicle speed sensor. PM me for my phone number and we'll have a yarn about it if you want, I will dig out the price breakdown for it. Went great.
Marks web site has a heap of info on it but there is heaps they don't mention.
