URGENT HELP NEEDED

Post by ShinyDiscoBalls »

Hi all,

Got my Disco (2000) in to get the power steering looked at for the second time.

Basically the steering column vibrates and makes a really loud noise almost like a rusty gate.

The dealership has replaced a couple hoses and bled the system twice and claims they cannot fix it.

I think the pump is on its last legs and as it is expensive to replace and the cost would be under warranty the dealer is trying to get away with not fixing it.

Any thoughts?

You sure its not the steering column bearings.

No I'm not sure.... but it would make sense as it feels like it's the column and not the power steer.

Is it a common occurrance?

Take it to another Dealer ;) , expressing to them the bad service you got from your present dealer...

Disco steering columns are quite a bit different to RRC. Might be in the column, but not the same bearing problem as RRC.

Thanks for the info guys... They have checked everything (allegedly)... replaces some hoses to an upgraded set which should have fixed it but allas it has not.

They are now contacting Land Rover in the UK to try and have it sorted.
