Should be an awesome long W/end again.
Entry's all due in by next friday 13th. (I think)
As usual wimps need not apply as you may scratch your truck big time the last 2 years it has run has seen a fair amount of willful damage occur at least 14 rollovers or flops in 2002

35'' simex extreme trekker 2.
rancho stage 9 in cab adjustable.
gq patrol rear diff and landcruiser front diff with 2'' wheel spacers in the front.
custom made coil rear suspension and leaf front with extened shackles.
twin gas tanks, custom built tray and custom built air tank.
warn 8000lb low mount winch, custom built front bar.

he has painted it the new ford tropical green and made the interior look awsome.
thats about all i can think of at the moment but theres more mods on the way.

Wheel spacers not permitted

cruiserkid better get your mate to read up on the CCDA rules as this event is running them

Wheel spacers are still up in the air I think. The way I see it is if they outlaw spacers (the type that bolt on) then they had better outlaw modified wheels and beadlocks and swampers and the list can go on. If they outlaw one thing because they aren`t legal then they had better outlaw everything that isn`t legal.
Cruserkid, as far as i know your mate wont be able to run because of the coil conversion.
Our club is under the impression that none of our comp cars can run because they are too modified (despite being fully engineered<other than tyres in most cases>).
As far as i am aware if a vehicle comes out with leaf suspension, it must remain leaf sprung, A spring over is allowed but a torque arm on the back diff is not as it is concidered another supension link and is not accepteble.
We have a couple of coil or coilover converted ex leaf sprung cars, and all our sprung over ones have rear torque arm to control diff wrap.
We are under the impression that according to the rules these cars are unacceptable, despite being engineered.
I think that your mates car may well fall into the same category.
If this is the case, i think that there will be quite a few clubs not fielding teams this year.
Unfortunate because the tracks (on day 1 particularly) are excellent.
May be some one from ccda (maybe Gordon) or landcruiser club can comment if this is the case or not.

I don`t see anything about differant suspension setups there, nor about wheels spacers, but looks like swampers are out

This is BS, how can a slow obsticle orientated event be run under CCDA rules that have been done to suit a fast race type event. Different type terrain different type vehicles.
NOW ABLE TOO SAY WHAT I WANT WITHOUT FEAR OF LOOSING SALES.

I agree and I hope the CCDA get a set of rules out for 2005 based around the top vehicles that have been competing in the past in these crawl events.
Just having a quick look at the Challenge class mods, almost all these mods should be allowed in the Trophy class on 36.5" tyres.
.
I think the CCDA is getting a bit carried away. I agree with trying to get back to a set of rules that willl allow your average weekend wheeler have a go at competing but the trucks they they are outlawing are the ones that attract the crowds. I think that all the drivers of the said type vehicles will end up forming there own association and the sport will become split.
They are saying that you can't run tyres that aren't road legal but yet you have to run a cams spec half cage which I am sure wouldn't be leagl in a lot of cars as well.

I have had alot of calls regarding my comments about the CCDA today, some have backed what I have said and others want to kill me.
I just want to state that I back what I have said. I Believe that We need the CCDA and I back the CCDA in what they do (most of the time) and I will join them and participate in there speed events, I even sponsered some of there sanctioned events. But I think there rulings are not in any way set up for crawling as most of rules outlaw 99.9% of the crawler rigs in one way or another. I was there at the first 6 or so CCDA meetings when it was being set up and from day 1 it was set up for speed vehicles in winch type events. I think there needs to be another set of rules for crawlers, as there are as many crawlers out there as there are speed orientated vehicles.
Who wants to see Rigs at Tuff Truck, Woodpecker ect ect with 36.5x13.5 tyres ect, NOT ME.
BTW, the few calls that rang me abused be, threatened me and hung up without leaving a name ect, could you please drop into my work in person tommorow any time you want.
To the others that talked (for or against) Thank you

Sam the cage issue comes into what I said about if they outlaw one thing because it isn`t 100% legal then they had better outlaw all things that an`t 100% legal.
The way I see it is if its good for one thing then its good for all things. Common sense has to come into it with it still being safe.
Like whats the differance between a rim that is 50mm offset and a 50mm spacer (bolt on type). The way I look at it is all the components endup with the same extra stress on them.

The reason we hear for these regs is insurance, or the lack of it if the vehicles are modified heavily..
Forgive me for being ignorant, but if all comps in NSW need rego, engineers cert for major mods, and now totaly useless 3rd party (useless because if there was a claim it would not be validated as in a competetion & not on a public road).. and we supposedly still cant get insurance.
This seems crap seeing as we can run in qld XRCC comps and now Put Up Or Shut Up in unregistered buggies and they can get insurance, and charge less for competetors also...
I dont understand what the go is, the sport has grown hugely in the last 5 or so years and these limitations are not helping anyone...
I reckon the majority of the crowd are there to see the big cars, and not a whole field of mild ones.

Maybe I was a bit harsh . Yes we do need some sort of association and what they are trying to achieve is probably a good thing. But it comes a cross that they don't really care about the big trucks which are what the crowds want to see. And without them the sport wouldn't have progressed to where it is now. I agree with TAZZ how can they run events like XRCC and PUT UP with unreg vehicles and yet down here we have to have full rego and insurnance. In all honestly a buggy is going to be a lot safer than a normal 4wd in the case of a rollover. You would just have to have been at PUT UP to notice that as there were a few big rollovers and all came out unscathed.
I guess this debate will go on for ever as there seem to be 2 very different views and oppinions on the subject i just hope it doesn't end up splitting the sport.

Well said SAM.I can't see why CCDA hasn't realized as an officiating body for our sport that different events call for different measures and rules , thats not to say thaat any of these rules should be any lesser on the saftey aspect, just organised to suit he comp in question.
IE you dont wear shark repellent in the murry river marathon or stockings to stop the jellyfish , everthing just needs to be takin into consideration for each event ,and lets be pushing for change thru disscussion not critisism. to that of the governing body trying to help us.Keep our sport alive in the general publics eye. Support growth and it will grow to support you.

Keep in mind that the CCDA is a "Drivers' Association" aimed at representing the drivers and competitors, not an event managers association.
Join, get involved and have your say. Use the CCDA to influence the event.
CCDA is the drivers' and competitors' guiding event managers by providing them with:
- Event Management Plan - guidelines to help them get organised
- Vehicle class specifications - so we have a degree of consistency, and
- Model rules - to provide a basis.
It is still up to the event managers to provide thier own supplementary rules which define the specifics of their event.
Different events will cater for different vehicle classes. Watch out for an event coming back on early 2005 which will challenge the toughest registered 4WDs in the country, with specs beyond Challenge class.
There is also nothing stopping someone from developing unregistered vehicle classes and the CCDA is there to provide a forum for setting standards for such classes.
Think about it - where do you as drivers, competitors and volunteer staff want to see 4wdMotorSport evolve in our region? If you have not already done so, why not join CCDA and have your say. Tell the CCDA committee what you think at http://CCDA.info

The CCDA will have a unregoed class, but for now it doesn`t. The reason for this is, the insurance was easier to setup without unregoed for now, but once the CCDA is up and running smoothly then a unregoed class will be brought in to it aswell.
This is what (I think it was) Hobzy told me about 7 months ago.
The biggest problem I can see with the CCDA ATM is that its mainly speed event drivers that are setting it up and since that is what they like and have run or competed in in the past that is all they know about, they don`t know about rock crawlers etc yet.
This is only my view on it and if I upset anybody well to bad

Whats this cork crawling competition Guts? is it like a pub crawl for winos?
Sounds like an interesting comp, i hope not too many reds tho as i get pissed too quick and have a huge hangover afterwards?
Maybe we could combine this cork crawling with rock crawling, now that would be interesting....
is that responsible?
