Patrol petition

Post by AJ »

"We, the 4WDers listed below, are concerned that the next generation Nissan Patrol will have Independent Front Suspension. We believe that Nissan should ensure that the Patrol maintains its tradition of being a great offroad vehicle and we believe that there is a market for strongly constructed, full sized. live axled 4WDs and that Patrol is that vehicle. Yours sincerely. Future Patrol Buyers"

OOOOOOooooooooooooo... 61 votes...

I can see Nissanman on the phone to headoffice in foofooland right now.

I think we would require another 4 zeros on that to make any difference.

You would think that being the last 4wd with lives, they would just up the motor to an economical V8 diesel and V8 petrol in both auto AND manual in both, and clean house on the market.

or the amended poll which if you read between the lines....

"We, the 4WDers listed below, are concerned that the next generation Nissan Patrol will have Independent Front Suspension. We believe that Nissan should ensure that the Patrol maintains its tradition of being a great offroad vehicle and we believe that there is a market for strongly constructed, full sized, live axled 4WD running 46" claws, twin lockers, turbo'd 5.7 GEN III V8, Warn 8274 hi-mount, kevlar panels, tray-back dual-cab, hose-out cabin, onboard air-inflation, 90 degree approach and departure angles, and that the Patrol is that vehicle. This would be the luxury model, but the base model would need to be a little more hard core...

Yours sincerely.

you were on a winner up to the Gen 3 donk.. I thought they had issues with oil pickup and shit like that? it would be no better than the 3.0...

Go with a Powermax for the diesel, and a 383 for the Petrol...

do any of you guys actully buy new 4x4's, i already know the awnser is noooo. Nissan are a company interested in market share, and the majority of the market is families. the thing is by the time all the new gu and the like are 20 years old there will be nowhere to 4x4 legally. There will probably be parks and they wont requrire registration so you will have tube buggys and dream of the old days, a partition from a minority group will do absolutly nothing exept give nissian the idea to put spare parts prices up for the older 4x4 capible vechiles because they no there is nothing you can do a bought it. Might be a grim outlook but just my 2 cents

GU Patrol is the most common vehicle in our (country) 4WD Club. GUs now out number GQs. All but one have been bought new. I bought mine new and will probably be buying another next April.

Why? What reason do you have for not wanting IFS? It is more comfortable ride and probably offers about the same amount of wheel travel as the front of a GQ anyway!

Sure, it won't suit the hardcore guys due to the limited travel but for 99% of the buyers of new 4WD's its ideal.

ive also picked up a new ute. 2nd patrol in 3 years.
and regarding losing money on new cars..ALL cars lose money
i was lucky tp pick this up for the same price as some 2-3 year old patrol utes at car yards.

No arguments from me. There will be plenty of IFS trucks for the 99% that you speak of. What we want is ONE vehicle to be available for the other 1%. Got a problem with that?

I dont have a problem at all, i was just offering a alternative opinion. I would much prefer a live axle than IFS but I would use the vehicle for much more than the manufacturer intended (as most of this board would!).
