Drums to disk front end on a 45s

I`m after info on replacing the drums and fitting disks to the front end on my 45s cruiser,is it simply bolt off then bolt on

You can use hilux complete swivel hubs but you may need to also use the hilux CVs depending on how old the cruiser is. The earlier drum brake cruisers had a slightly longer stub shaft on the CV. Other than this it is a simple bolt on swap. You may need to get custom flexible brake lines made.

Look for wreckers that have hj47 front disc hubs, they bolt straight on

and also can get a complete 60s front diff cheap could i use bits and peices of those?

Yes as long as its not a zj75 series.

I used 60s brakes on mt 75 FJ40 ran into problems with the arm's on the hub and had to use 75s ones

My personal experience with front disc conversion onto an FJ45 was that i ended up swapping every brake part bar the brake lines to get it to work, after lots of " yeah, just bolt the front disc on, she'll be sweet!" - then it was " you'll have to get single cylinder rear brakes, then your brakes will be perfect!" Note: front drum models have twin slaves in each wheel, disc models have singles in the rears. Brakes ok, but rears lock up way before fronts. Then i was told " by the right master cylinder to suit your discs, and it will definitely work!!!" yep, still not perfect, braking was a bit mor even, but just not what they should be. Then, i put the BOOSTER from a disc model on, and VWALA! Perfect brakes. So it had every part off a disc front model except the brake lines. I was told about pressure reducers, but then i heard they were illegal, .... . The thing i found funny, was that i asked many brake places about disc front conversion, and i swear it was as if i was the first person to do one - no one knew anything about them. No one could tell me for sure what would work. Now i'll say if you use everything, it HAS to work. If it worked on that car, it should work on this car.
But no ones ever heard of anyone doing a front disc conversion....

You may have to grind out the end of the axle housing to get the new CVs in.

If you have a complete 60 front diff with breaks its the same except for axel lengths use that .

As for the 75 houseing they are the same track width but i belive the angle the pinion is set at is steaper so suits better when you raise truck check b4 you start might be worth useing that housing if this is true .

My shorty came from the factory with discs on the front and the back always locked up b4 the front especialy i think is common on shortys
