74 auto question

Post by MQ080 »

73/4 with 13BT's run what auto box? Is that different than the 3F box? Basically my questions centre around what type it is so I can do some research on how strong these are for a modified converter.

The mission is to find one, mod the converter so it has engine braking similar to that of a manual which would give it the best of both worlds and run crawler gears

they will be either A440F or A442F which are the same gearbox but with hydraulic or electronic shift control, depending on age - up to 1993ish will be hydraulic control. it is the same gearbox as the 60 series etc autos.

ie they should suit the overrun clutch modification.

Doing a bit of research on the A440 and came across a site in Canada that listed a HJ60 and BJ60? If this is the case did the 60's come out in a smaller engine also in the Nth American market?

canada (possibly USA too) got the 60 series with the 3B engine yes, same engine as BJ70 etc - 3.4 litre, 4 cylinder, indirect injection.
