Diesel Gemini

Post by dumbdunce »

ok I know this isn't exactly 4WD related.

does anyone know anything about the diesel Geminis sold in the early 80's? specifically after specs on the engine - kW, Nm, capacity, compression ratio etc etc. I'm hoping maybe I can grab one for a decent price and turbo it up to make an economical runabout that isn't too much of a slug.

I've had a search on the www but can't find much tech info so if you know of any resources where I can find this info I'd be forever in your debt*

Cheers

Brian

Hows this... (Translation is a little dodgey!) :D

"Q-D1800 engine which makes economical efficiency match, with serial 4 cylinders 1800cc, the highest output 61 horsepower, you call 60km/h fixed area travelling value 29km/ liter, it is low the fuel economy which should be surprised. Suddenly Gemini was acknowledged as pronoun of the Diesel car."

Image

Serial 4 cylinder Diesel engine
Bore × stroke =84mm×82mm
Total cubic displacement =1817cc
Compression ratio =21.0
The highest output =61ps/5000rpm
Largest torque =11.2kgm/2000rpm

Found this at the following site http://www.isuzu.co.jp/museum/p_car/gemini.html using Altavista Babelfish translator http://world.altavista.com/tr.

Hope this is what you're after...

Nice work Noel, thanks!

hrm 61 horsepower... with some turbo love it could make a reliable 85 horsepower I reckon... hm can't tell from that pic if it's a crossflow head design or not but give me more info to search on.

cheers

No worries Brian.

I actually like your idea of a turbo'd Gemini. Would be a great little economical runabout. Let us know if you go through with it...

ISUZU 4FG1T ENGIN DR 4 CY,2380CC,FARGO 85/4300

thats for an RB gemini that was when the T series gemini was replaced. It was front wheel drive and didnt come with a diesel here AFAIK.
But it was a good read anyway
