I've had my 2000 GU coilcab for about a month now & in the last week it has developed a shake through the front end.
It starts at 80 km/h as a small shake through the steering wheel & ends up shaking the whole truck at 85 km/h it then settles to a small shake again at 90-95 km/h.
I've had the front tyres balanced, but it made no difference.
Rather than spending money replacing things to try & pinpoint the problem, I thought someone here might be able to help.
I remember hearing ages ago that such a problem was relativly common with GQ-GU Patrols.
It has Nissan springs & shocks that still work well.
Any help?

Check for:
Loose wheel bearings--hold top of front tyre whilst moving truck from side to side--see if you can feel any clucking. Worn out/loose panard rod bolts/bushes--check the same way. Kingpin bearings loose/worn..
Try another tyre balancer--Patrols are very sensitive to wheels even slightly out balance--Ive had this problem with out-of-calibration balancing machines.

Had the same problem.
My original Caster bushes had virtually fallen apart.
The steel sleeving had separated from the rubber.
Changed the suspension with additional lift. (Doing that regardless)
OME kit fitted with caster bushes, g/box packer etc etc.
For the first 100 or so k's the problem was still there but only quite faint.
The problem had disappeared by 500k's after installation.
Put it down to the new system settling in.
The speeds you mentioned seem to be about the same.
From what I have read the common complaint is wheel balance.
Some have also blamed Universals.

sorry steel i didnt read your post properly.if it has the standard gear check the panhard bushes top and bottom.do this by getting under the front and have someone else turn the steering wheel left to right bout 9" and if there is movement thats the problem.i had my wheels balanced on the vehicle which made a difference also mud gets in behind the rim where you cant see it and messes the balnce up real bad with the standard steel wheels.maybe check your steering dampner aswell... ignore previous post .

wider offset wheels also magnify any small problem you may have in ..

kingpin bearings,
steering rod balljoints,
tie rod balljoints.
try unbalanced 38 swampers on 10 inch rims... after that you dont worry about any little shakes

Yup.. Thats whats up with mine at moment.
Mine gets shakes at 60 when you hit the brakes it really shakes.. While at Bazzles palace on friday, we checked it out...
Get someone to shake car left to right, while they do this, you hold onto the panhard mount to feel for movement. Mine are phukt..
The bushes are $17per side.
I gotta a gq and had everything replaced ie control arm bushes panhard bushes etc front and back.
Still had a wobble under brakes. So... replaced front disks with slotted ones and while it was better still had a little wobble.
I thought the bearings where done up tight but I checked the other day and left hand side was loose. (apparently these can be a bit of a problem sometimes). Well I did it up and now there is no prob.
On a side note. The slotted rotors obviously work a treat as I had to stop in a big hurry the other day on the highway and with 2.9 tonne of vehicle I had to actually back off the brakes as it would lock up the big 35's!!!!
I was pretty happy as I never used to be able to lock up the wheels at all with 35's on my cruiser and it was not that heavy.

No idea, but changed mine last night + New steering stabilizer.. AWESOME now. Tires need balance, so thats next few days, but its like driving a new car. Seriously.
Be careful, dealer tried to sell me a complete new panhard - called price was $17ea When he came to charge me, he said $199 please.. I nearly shit a gold bar.. Then I told him just the bushes. $14ea.
You use the bushes from the rear in the front. They are the same.
