No after market manufacturer makes improved gearing for MQ/MK.\

4.625 is the highest common diff centre gearing you can get. You can also get 4.8's but they are very uncommon as they only made an appearance in the late model MK utes.

You can improve your gearing in the gearbox also, fitting a 5 speed gives you a much lower first and second, if its from a naturally asperated diesel that figure is even lower then from the turbo diesel 5 speeds.

my rig had no problems at all ( towed near 3 tonne in overall added wieght down to Kingys ( 13 hours down the freeway, sitting on 100km to 120km per hour the whole time cept up hills... ) with the standard diesel and 35's on standard 4.625 gearing.

u could probably have them made but it will cost u so much its not worth while.

My rig and V8 patrols, have both run 38's with a 5 speed and 4.6's Runs 's them fine. Mine will be permenatly on 38s after this finaly biuld up.
We both have V8's though.... But the diesel will pull 38's as well just wont like it much...

From the European FAST parts system, it looks like the 160/R model (83-88) SD33-powered pickup/trayback models came with 4.875 gears.
In search of an MQ (offset) H233b rear, housing only preferred, plus a complete GQ or GU front (4.6 ratio ideal) to be shipped to the US. Cheap! Email/PM if you can help.

Yes, As i said above, the late model MK utes came out with 4.8's but they are rare and expensive for little improvement.
If u bust one or up for a load or crap in trying to find one much less the cost.

4.6s are common and stronger too.

Cant get it because there is no demand for it. If you want low gears in the T-case ( personaaly cant justafy spending that much when MQ's have good enough gearing to get ya home ) Get a turbo 700 auto and fit a 40 or 60 series transfer on it. They are offset and you can get crawlet gears for them.

Or

Fit a GQ box but theres even more stuffen around there, as MQ diffs are offset and GQs arnt, so u will need GQ diffs as well if u plan on any major lift, so therefore, may as well get a GQ if ya want to go that far....
